I need to buy a gift for a one year old. She is a younger sibling so there are plenty of toys/clothes in the house. I want to stay in the $25-50 range. Any ideas??

GC to a local kiddie gym, water table, contribution to savings/education fund, art supplies - finger paints/paper/color magic markers, swimming suit/pool toys for upcoming summer.

A gc for a play gym or a certificate for a haircut at a fun kids place?

Books are always appreciated here, you can never have too many. Otherwise maybe a pass to somewhere.

@Mrsbells: I like the idea of books, but it's often not a present that kids really ENJOY receiving.

Something personalized that isn't a hand me down, like a PBK beach wrap towel for this summer.

New eating stuff - their own sippy cups/plates, etc. We have all of D's old ones, but it's nice to get new ones for A that aren't all beat up.
Books are always welcome.

If the older sibling is a boy, there might not be a lot of dolls in the house (speaking from experience ) Books are always good too, or pencils - those disappear so fast! I don't know what my kids do with theirs... Or maybe some cute hair clips!

@CatchAFallingStar: I agree! DD loves her Hellos. We read the current issue at least three times a day.

@RyBMama: I'm not sure that a 1 year old really enjoys receiving anything! How much older are the older kids? Maybe something that would be played with with multiple ages so they wouldn't have to share like a doll or doll stroller? A special stuffed animal?

This is a toy, but I just got a personalized wooden push toy from Bannor Toys for a friend's son who turned one (second child/boy). Wooden toys are classic and look nice displayed in a bedroom or playroom - and I know the mom likes them I think I got the idea from here originally that personalized items are really appreciated for second kids who get so many hand-me-downs!

My girls got personalized wooden puzzle stools that I think are really special/useful - those are out of your price range, I think, but what about a name puzzle?

My second daughter just turned one. I agree a personalized beach towel or something would be nice. And definitely a pass or class I could do just for her would be nice, but a lot of those are more expensive.
We just got this little finger puppet book for her and she loves it. It's been a big hit. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/mobile/w/little-puppy-chronicle-books/1016431502

@Foodnerd81: I second the personalized towel. We received a personalized beach towel for DD last year and it's one of our most used gifts!

@MissLace: That's a good idea.
I see it's already been suggested but I was going to say feeding stuff.

Books with flaps. The ones from the older kids might not still be in good shape.
