One of my best friends just had their second child.

I tend to go for crafts - easy/age appropriate so they can do themselves with out much help, less mess the better so new mom doesnt have to spend time cleaning up - Melissa and doug make great sets

I keep thinking about a gift card to Build-A-Bear so that she and her mom could have a special outing together, but you'd probably want to check that with mom first and see if she felt like it was something she'd be up for doing in the first few weeks.

My LO's a little younger, but I'm planning to get her a baby carrier for her baby doll so she can match me when I carry LO2.

Anything that can be done while mama is tending to the baby. One of those craft kits from Michaels or Target might be good - decorate your own water bottle, make a wind chime, etc.
