L was younger when #2 arrived and I ended up selling my UBV and rumble seat for a mountain buggy duet. Mainly because she still naps in the stroller if I use it anywhere close to nap time. If R still naps in the stroller I'd definitely get the seat. I'm a really heavy stroller user though, so I'm often out all day with it. For short occasional trips I could have made do with the ride on board.

We have an UBV with a piggyback board and DD loves it, but we also have a side by side double stroller.. The UBV is great for shorter trips (market, target, short zoo outing, etc) but for all day trips we've found both kids need to be able to fully recline. My kids' age gap is just 18 months though..

My nephew and niece have a bigger age gap and they do fine with just the board, no extra seat or additional stroller.

@birdofafeather: Ah, I see. Is it like the UBV rumble seat? We considered getting the rumble seat and not a 2nd stroller, but my friends with the 2nd seat didn't recommend it saying one kid's view is blocked and one ends up kicking the other, etc

As for the stroller, ugh I'm thinking about this too. Got a full double stroller now bc I know K would not tolerate the rumble seat on the Vista. And so far haaaates sitting double any which way with her cousin's city select. So I needed to make sure she basically cannot touch or kick the baby. I also got her the skateboard thing and though she likes it so far, it seems like a novelty she won't stay on for more than 5 min at a time. I'm thinking by 3 though, she'll mostly walk and ride the board bc she hates being stuck in a stroller anyway. I just need her to stay in it sometimes so I want that option.

Our LOs will be exactly 3 years apart, and I am guessing we will only be using the glider board--in the beginning I plan to baby wear a lot, and have LO1 in the regular toddler seat. Then it will be cold here, so will hopefully be able to keep baby wearing and have LO1 in his stroller bundle me. And then by the time it's warm weather LO will be 3.5 and definitely able to just use the board. But have you looked at your list serves? I would think you'd be able to find both options cheaper used. That is my plan (will def get glider board but if I find the rumble seat cheap will get that as well).

Let me put it this way: everything about dealing with 2 kids and a stroller is annoying. If you get the glider board the older one will want to sit like the baby. If you get the seat she'll want to walk. The baby will decide no to the carseat or stroller and then will end up in the carrier. When they can both walk you end up with an empty stroller with two seats. One decides he want to push the stroller. The other wants to glide when the stroller is empty making it unstable. Maybe that's just my kids. So…I guess I would start with the glider board combo but know you might end up having to get a seat after all.

So we had the city mini double and I sold it because storage sucked. Now we have a double contours elite and a single city mini. I love the contours because I can use it with a car seat or regular seats, and I can easily push it if DD wants to walk. I force her into it in parking lots or If I'm in a rush. I will bribe her to stay put with a snack or chocolate milk or a smoothie, or, I turn the seat facing me so even if she tries to slide out she hits the basket and it's extremely easy to get her in and out of, she can actually even do it herself!

It will definitely depend on the kids, and it will not be predictable. We have the City Select and I will add that changing out the seats is NOT a pain, its the easiest thing in the world. We do not have the car seat bracket thing so I can't comment on changing out that. Our kids are 22 mos apart. We live in a walkable neighborhood and probably walk around more than we drive. We very rarely drive somewhere and then load the kids into the stroller- I guess the zoo a couple of times? But neither of our kids have liked the infant car seat AT ALL, so it would not have been that useful to us. I know normal kids sleep in their car seat and it is probably easy just to be able to leave them in the seat and move them from stroller to car etc so take my experience with a grain of salt. I just wore #2 until I felt comfortable putting him down in the fully reclined seat which was probably 3-4 mos old? And it worked out just fine. As for the glider board, DS1 refused to ride in the stroller for most of the first few months of having DS2 home, so we got the glider board to keep him moving because waiting for him to walk was so slow. Now he is 3.5 and has not ridden on the glider board for months, he is back to loving riding in the stroller for the past 10 mos or so, and we're grateful to have the two seats. In fact I took the glider board off last week because I was tired of kicking it and we haven't used it for months.
