I placed an order for some Sandra Boynton books for LO and selected 2-day shipping for delivery on Friday. (I work from home on Fridays.) I'm not sure if Amazon upgraded me to one day shipping or if UPS was super efficient but they delivered the package today and left it our front door. Yay for early delivery but the package is no where to be found! I guess I'll call Amazon later...kinda bummed someone would take it! 
No new silly stories for LO tonight!

Oh no! What service delivered it? If you have a tracking # it might be easier to deal with them
A few years ago a whole box of all my nieces & nephew's Christmas presents were taken from my brother's front door! I was so pissed!!! They were mostly handmade and personalized items! What the f was someone going to do with personalized gifts? I'm still pissed off because they barely got Xmas gifts from us that year.
some retailers were nice enough to resend free of charge when they heard the story.

Yes! We live in a condo building. Our unit is right across from the elevator, so everyone sees our door. It stinks. UPS and Fed Ex a lot now won't leave things at the doors, they require a someone to sign for packages. I think that it is getting better though. Last couple things I bought, they were left and we had no issues.

That's horrible! Do you think it was a neighbor? I'd totally ask the neighbors.
No one has stolen a package from me - but, stupid UPS or FedEx (don't remember) freakin delivered my MacBook pro to the neighbors that we don't know! Luckily the woman brought it over for me - SO scary when I realized it was signed for (via tracker) and not outside!

I called UPS and their records show the package was left at my front door because a sig release was authorized by the shipper. I checked with our building front desk and they don't have it.
i feel bad for making an assumption but there are lots of junior high kids who are on summer break in our complex...maybe one of them took it? @Mrs. Bee: Oh good, glad they have good customer service!

We thought someone stole a package, but it turns out it was delivered to another house. He brought it to us about a week later.

No, but my MOH had a package with a TON of Christmas gifts in it taken last year...like all of her Christmas gifts for all of her family and friends...it was signed for by some random person on her porch while she was upstairs. Something like $500 worth of stuff, a week before Christmas.
Amazon not only replaced it all for her after she called in hysterics, but they shipped it 2-day air, for free.

I had this happen once when I lived in an apartment. I was terrified some of our wedding gifts might disappear since we lived in an apartment, but that never happened fortunately.
In our current house, our UPS delivers our area last (usually around 630pm) so if I know something is coming, I try to make sure I'm home when it's delivered.

Yep! What irked me is that I got a Christmas present stolen and later I saw my neighbor wearing it. Wtf? Atleast wear it when you won't be around your apartment.

When I lived in an apartment, they never left stuff at the door. I had to pick it up at the depot. Now that I'm in a house, they leave it at the door and there have been no problems so far.

I have gotten a 2 packages that were supposed to go to my neighbor. The house was empty for a while and I ordered a ton of stuff when I still had Amazon Mom and LO was younger, so I guess the delivery guy just assumed it was for us? I've never had anyone take anything, but when I lived in an apartment, I would leave a note up asking that no packages be left at the door. The UPS office was 2 mins away and FedEx was about 10 mins, so I just went and picked them up when I got home. I didn't trust the people in that apartment complex and we didn't know any of our neighbors.

Yup! It's happened to us before, but they're usually good about replacing the item.
