I used to spend almost all of my money on physical books! (Plus, coffee.) But now, I only ever buy digital books if I can help it... I only ever buy physical books as gifts or if a digital version isn't available. The only exception is children's books - we also buy those in physical form!

The only physical books I buy are cookbooks and children's books. I buy and read all other books on a Kindle.

I am the other way. I try to avoid digital books s much as possible and almost always buy physical books. I prefer it.

I only buy children's books now. Its easier to get books on my iPad.

@plantains: Same here. I always buy physical books, but I also don't have a Kindle or anything similar and I have no interest in reading a book on my laptop!

@Adira: I'm weirdly old school about it. I love bookstores and books and the sensations don't translate for me with the digital versions.
I am also a big believer in modelling behaviours for DD and I think that when she sees me with books she wants to read them too moreso than if I am on a tablet.

@plantains: I wonder if in the future, most reading will be done on devices! I remember when everyone read the physical newspaper, but now most newspaper reading is done online and on phones/tablets... it's crazy to me (a former paperboy), but now most younger readers don't take the printed newspaper!

Yeah, I very rarely buy books, I use the library for both ebooks and regular hardback books.

I really only buy kindle books now unless it's a book that DH will want to read too (he only likes physical books). I'm currently trying to downsize my collection of physical books as well.

Other: I try not to buy books at all--that's what the library is for!!
For books that I know I'll read again and again, however, I like having a physical copy. I do have a Kindle, which I LOVE for travel. But again, I usually use it for e-books from the library!!

I went through a kindle phase, but now I am back to physical books. I think it's more enjoyable to read that way so I am old school. I also tend to speed read on the kindle, can't help it!

Now, I try not to buy any books if at all possible. I just borrow from the library, or try to go through the books I already own first... even though there are always new books out that I'm itching to read!

We don't have room for books! I actually got rid of a lot of books recently. One day when I have my own home I'll have a library! ha. But for now, I only get books from the library. They have a digital lending library too.

I always had this dream about having a house full of books, but now I'm a digital convert. LO sleeps in bed with me, so I can't read anything unless it's on my kindle paperwhite. Plus, its awesome to be able to borrow digital books from the library without having to worry about forgetting to return it on time (or about bedbugs!).
We still buy physical copies of kids books and cookbooks. The new dream is to have a few bookshelves showcasing our very favorite books, but not every single book we've ever read (or been gifted).

Since I've started using our library app, I've only bought books I want/need to reference in the future. I try to keep my purchasing very limited. I'm trying out the Marie Kondo organizing method and I'm getting rid of most of my physical books.

I get about 90% of the books I read, both physical and ebooks, from the library but when I do buy I am more likely to buy the actual book.

I only buy physical books. I'm so scared of the day book stores become as hard to find as music stores currently are.

I buy physical books, but I can only bring myself to spend on my kids. I would rather save money and borrow a book from the library for myself.

I have, but it's not because of electronics. It's because I moved next to a library a few years ago, and then NYC made a huge improvement to its book ordering system. We can get almost any book we want by ordering it online and waiting a couple of weeks for it to arrive.
Well, that and being too tired to read lately!

ETA: Perks when buying physical books are being able to bring a paperback to the beach etc., (without fear of it being stolen or getting wet/sandy), being able to lend it out to friends and family, and also it will never run out of batteries!!
All of those things plus the tactile experience/smell of books make me think I'll never be a e-book convert. Time will tell!

I feel like digital books are too expensive! Most of the good ones are more than 5 bucks and if I'm going to pay that for a book I'd like to have the physical thing! But that's just me.

I never buy books anymore. I either get them off tuebl or get them from the library. I actually just went from 2.5 bookshelves down to 2 shelves of my favourites.
I read too much to be spending money on books!
