Bee is 5-6 inches shorter than me. Height hasn't been an issue for me, but I worry for my son who is in the 25th percentile for height!
Have you ever dated anyone shorter than you? Is height important to you?

Yep! My exbf from college was 1-2" shorter than me! I am almost 5'8" he was 5'6" on a good day!

Yes... briefly. There were issues other than his height... but I wont lie and say that it wasn't a factor. It was kind of awkward.

I'm 5'10" and I never did date anyone shorter than me but it wasn't because I'd necessarily find it weird -- if I had met the right person and they had been shorter than me it wouldn't have phased me one bit.
DH is 6'2" though.

@mrbee: I did. My sister is 5'10 an her husband is 5'8". I notice a trend of very tall women liking to date shorter men so he may end up with a super model. Tom Cruise always dates super tall women. Either way he sure is a handsome little devil too which doesn't hurt. Confidence is key!

I'm rather short and even my shortest guy friend at 5'4" is still taller than me. We didn't date, but I can't imagine a guy being shorter than him. My dates were at least 8" taller than me. Height is important to me.
My short guy friend never had a problem pulling the ladies. Most were petite and he "towered" over them in a pint size way. He dated quite a few women taller than him.
Personality can trump shortcomings!

No, but I'm 5'0" so it would be difficult to find a man that short. I actually wasn't ever that interested in any really tall guys- usually 5'6"-5'10" was what I dated.

I'm 5'10" and dated a guy about 4" shorter. It made me pretty uncomfortable, but he was a jerk and would say things like, "I don't like it when you wear heels." I was also 16 years old. I had a long term BF later on, who was my height and when I wore heels I was taller- that didn't bug me at all. DH is 6'3" though

Yes, my middle school bf and I were around the same height, but I looked taller, even with flats. A hs bf was just a few inches taller than me, so I was taller with high heels and I very briefly dated a guy during college who was barely taller than me. I admit, I was conscious of the height thing the whole time, especially since all my uncles are tall.

I'm 6'0" so DH is shorter than I am by a couple of inches. It doesn't matter or bothers me at all. As a kid growing up I always seemed to be taller than most people in my classes so I guess I'm just used to it.

Yes and it was weird. I felt like I was dating a teenager. I have a half inch on DH. I always thought it was dumb when the short girls took the tall guys lol! The pool was small for some of us

Probably in elementary school and high school because the boys hadn't caught up yet but never dated anyone shorter than me as an adult.

@Danizaur: I met one just recently (last few days). I felt like I towered over him. Surprisingly he doesn't seem to have short man's syndrome. It helps that he's incredibly smart. Still, my husband is way taller than me and he's only 5'8"!

DH is only 3 inches taller than me so it feels like we are two of the same sized spoons when we cuddle

No, I've always liked really tall guys. DH doesn't fall into that category but he's still taller that me. I'm only 5'2" though.

Wagon Sr. is only 1 inch taller than me, so for the first 5 years or so of our relationship I only wore super flat flats. It was an issue for me but not for him. He's always been the shortest of all his friends (at 5'7".. most of his friends are 5'10"-6'2" so he always stood out as short) and I've never seen any hint of short man syndrome from him. He grew up always being short so he's used to it, and he has always had a healthy self image. I freely wear heels now since we've been married almost 10 years... by this time in life I don't care anymore if I'm taller than him. It does bother me when we're not the same weight though!

My husband and I are pretty much the same height. Like Mrs. Wagon, I wore more flat shoes initially - I still do because flats are generally more comfortable for me. I don't think it bothered him that we were so close in height. Before I met him, I did go out a few guy I met online who was not honest about his height on his profile (he was shorter than he posted but he told me that when he met me).

I am 6' and there were guys shorter than me. I am thinking of one in particular who I was immediately drawn to and him being shorter than me never ever phased me. It just didn't matter.
