We went to a neighborhood restaurant today because it was "kids eat free" night, but they weren't behaving so we left early. What a rookie move to take them out to dinner when they're tired.

back in the day when we just had DD we would eat super fast whenever we went out though.
Now, I always carry snacks and food items I know will keep the kids happy. If we go out to eat, umma's gonna enjoy her food and the eating out experience!

Only once so far. It was our own fault though, because we met my parents for dinner at 6:30 (and her bedtime is 7).

Once we did...well, actually it was less because of bad behaviour and more because she vomited all over the table, our food and herself. That was not a fabulous meal.

We don't got out to eat much but she's also a social butterfly so she just likes being around all the people so we haven't run into that issue yet.

Not yet. We only go on well rested days and really early (seated by 5:00). So far no big problems, but she is only 16 months and easily distracted/soothed from any issues that pop up.

We dont go out to eat much because LO tends to act out in restaurants. It seemed to start around 14 months and still now at almost 20 months. Hoping she grows out of it

We've only been brave enough to attempt a restaurant with LO once but I asked for the check when our food arrived and paid immediately so that we could make a hasty exit if needed! lol. She did okay but I was so stressed about having her out I'm not even sure it was worth it to go.

Not early but there seems always to come a moment where it's clear we have to leave before things all go to hell. Like, immediately. Haha. CHECK PLEASE!

Yes I had a lunch date with my friend and her boyfriend but both kids were being terrible so we left. They brought food later to my house and hung out with me then.

So far, no at 13 months. He's been fussy, but nothing holding him in our lap or taking him for a quick walk didn't fix. I'm nervous/scared the day he throws a tantrum that can't get me out of there fast enough.

Kinda sorta. DD1 was misbehaving so I just took her outside to blow off some steam while DH, DD2, and a friend stayed to eat.

Not yet, but we have cut it close before! DS started screaming right when we got the check, so I went outside with him while DH quickly paid.

Yes but she vomited (thankfully most in the bib with the big pocket) so I asked for containers and the check. I left a big tip since I had to leave some gross napkins there.
We've left family functions early on many occasions though because she was misbehaving or overly tired. If no one in the family is having fun it's time to go!

Oh, i forgot about a projectile vomit episode! My husband was in line waiting for an omelet and I zoomed by and was like, uhhh, go check out the table.
We don't eat out that much, we stick to places that are counter service so we aren't captives to the table.

Sort of? I knew it was pushing LO's bedtime but my grandparents were in town and my parents invited us to go out to eat with them. We said okay because the restaurant was right by our house, but warned them that we might have to duck out early if L started having a tired meltdown - which is exactly what happened.

Not yet. We went out for dinner the first time on Monday and she was very well behaved even though she wasn't feeling well!

No and I wouldn't. They will be removed from the restaurant but the whole family won't be made to leave. We eat out all the time so learning to behave in a restaurant is a non-negotiable!

@catomd00: I would love to be able to enjoy dinner time without having to leave with the kids! How do you guys remove the kids without removing one of the parents though?

not yet. LO is only 19 months though, so plenty of time for all that. one of us does walk around with him while we're waiting for the food to arrive, and generally our meals don't last more than 45 minutes because we don't want him to get too antsy.
