LO lists about ten different things every time I ask what he wants to be! I'm hoping he can decide on something soon.

I already bought costumes! (Basically I forgot last year and didn't want that to happen again.) but now I'm paranoid what I bought dd will be too small by the time October gets here!

I bought lo1's costume in a slightly too-big size so she'll wear it again this year--a peacock! Luckily she's too little to reject repeating it
I don't know what to do about lo2! It's her first halloween, and I borrowed lo1's 1st costume so I don't have a hand-me-down.
ETA NM, I just googled "peacock baby costume" and Carters has one on sale now, score!! Both my girls will be peacocks There's a park near our daycare that has peacocks on the grounds, so they're VERY popular with lo and her friends!

Yes! They want to be Trolls this year! Hoping they don't change their minds so I can get them to match again.

DD's favorite toy is a Raggedy Andy doll, so she is being Raggedy Ann. OH and I are also dressing up as Raggedy Andy and Ann.

Follow up- has anyone seen tight fitting long sleeve t shirts or onesies in "skin color" (so like, beige, for my kids)? That are cheap of course.

Costumes arrived - B's is pretty short so I'm going to order a size up, glad I have plenty of time! Getting it off him to go to bed was a fight. W's mask won't fit over his 100th percentile head so I'm going to have to replace the elastic.

LO is still young enough for me to pick her costume, but I am stumped for an idea that I like as much as her Rosie the Riveter costume from last year.

Yes- my 4 year old loves Octonauts and he wanted to be Kwazii. Then we decided to go along with the theme for our 14 month old and got him a Peso costume.

@Foodnerd81: Check amazon. I got a black long sleeve onesie size 24 month for $10 for his costume!
nectarine / 2018 posts
@Foodnerd81: if you look up leotards on Amazon there are lots of nude colors available for around $10.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@catgirl: I'm worried about bathroom breaks and diaper changes with a leotard- I'd be putting them underneath their costumes. I suppose I could try to make them into onesies but that sounds difficult...

@Adira: Love the costumes!
We are travelling the week of Halloween so it has been in my mind for a few weeks. When we told DS we were going to see his cousins he declared he wanted to be Leonardo.
Last I heard from my mom his cousins may be joining the theme.

Umm, my daughter said she wants to be a Catboy/Owlette/Gecko-dragon, so I am thinking the Owlette dress I saw at Target with her Catboy mask and dragon wings from last year's costume? Maybe her little brother can be Gecko?

I got DDs costume last month and her wig just arrived last week!!! Super excited. Now to work on accessories for my work costume. DH is on his own this year. Last year I coordinated a family outfit. That was fun!! It is hot where I live so I have to be sure she is cool enough.

Yes! I'm not that into Halloween myself but my son seems to be getting really excited. He's 3 on Saturday and it's such a fun age for this.
He declared a couple months ago that he wants to be Blippi, who I'm sure no one at all will know. But fortunately it's sort of like a dork costume so I'm sure people will just think he's a cute little dork. Here's the guy, I already have all of the elements of the costume.
Last year he refused to wear his costume. But he was newly 2 and I picked it for him so I'm hoping with a year older and something he picked he'll wear it.

Yup. DD goes back and forth between Minnie and belle. She was Minnie last year and the costume still fits and she has the belle dress so she can be either.
I was going to do mickey for ds (8 mos) if DD does Minnie but as I said she keeps switching.. so I'm not 100% decided on Ds. I might just do the mickey if I can find the costume second hand..... or DIY it.

Since DD is 2.5 I don't think she cares. We have a vest and hat so I think she will be a cowgirl or farmer.
Oh and my sister gave us a snunk costume.....

@Foodnerd81: Amazon has a few options is you search for long sleeved leotards.

ETA: I just saw your concern about potty breaks. I think they would be easy enough to modify if you used velcro instead of snaps.

@jhd: omg the blippi obsession is intense. But thank God it's one of the better things on YouTube. And he's not too hard on the eyes
You can buy blippis hat and glasses and a tee with suspenders on his website. I bought gray jeans and some blue and orange sneakers. Done and done.
Hey Blippi...

@SweetiePie: OMG, DS would absolutely pick Blippi if he thought of that. Right now, he is deciding between an "excavator" and a "worker'. But we watched Blippi this morning (DH is traveling for work) and had a total meltdown when it was over and he had to get ready for school.
No one will recognize it, until you find another toddler parent who will think it is awesome. We were "dragons love tacos" last year and everyone was confused until we ran into a group of preschoolers who thought it was amazing.

We are not huge on Halloween, but don't want her to be left out at school. I got her a Princess Poppy (from Trolls) hoodie that will work well for dress up; I also have some Frozen/Elsa dress up stuff that she can throw on. I'm also tempted to get the Abby Cadabby costume hoodie in case she changes her mind.
Baby is being nothing

@SweetiePie: omg so weird to see him not in character! LO has definitely learned things from him and definitely not as obnoxious as some of the other YouTube videos he's been into!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@snowjewelz: I definitely feel better about paying for a costume knowing it will be used for dress up year round. Her current assortment of dress up clothes are starting to get a little worn out (like seams disintegrating). We are big on dress up in this house so Halloween is just an extension of that!
@kiddosc: I saw Walmart had one for less than $6 with free shipping, so figured I could modify it- but sold out in her size.

@jhd: omg the YouTube mommy finger videos and all of the surprise eggs. And kids just playing with toys. 🤦♀️ I am forever grateful for Blippi!

I like stuff I can resuse. So this year my daughter (2.5) will be Peppa Pig. She can literally wear her whole costume (shirt, dress, tights, books, and hat) multiple times.

I'll have to do clowns another year. LO's Flash costume for superhero day at daycare (coincides with 9/11) is too cute. He will be the capeless crusader again for Halloween.

@Adira: yes, twinning!! X is loving his though. We have one pic where LO is poking at his chest muscles like what in the world is this??

DS is going to be a pirate and DD is going to be Tinkerbell. We got DS a pirate costume for his daycare's pirate week over the summer. We'll reuse it for our Disney cruise's pirate night in February too. Same goes for DD's costume.

My DD has been decided on her costume for a month or so now! She wants to be Peter pan. She saw our school district summer musical and it was Peter pan and she got to meet him afterwards and she's been obsessed ever since! I'm grateful it's pretty easy Diy, other than the hat. I'll have to give it a go to make sure I can make it myself. I think her cousins are going to go as tinker bell and captain hook. DD2 (6 months) is going to go as Nana the dog!

DD almost 3 is obsessed with Frozen lol
She has Halloween down to a science
She is
I am Ana
DH Christof
DS 1 Olaf
And our dog is Sven!

@abbydabbydoodlebug: My mom made me a homemade Peter Pan outfit when I was probably about...6? It's still one of my most vivid memories. She dyed a men's white tshirt and white tights green. Cut zigzags at bottom of the shirt. Got a black belt. I think she made my hat out of felt. Cant remember what I did for shoes. But I LOVED it.

@mrs.shinerbock: my kids were PJ masks last year! DD was owlette and DS was catboy.
Ok, so my kids decided to be superheroes this year. DS is going to be batman, and DD is wonder woman. I love that she chose to be wonder woman! Got DS's costume from Costco, and DD's from Amazon.

My son wants to be a scary tree! Help! I see the costume for older kids but he is just under 4 years old, tall for his age but not big enough for a big kid costume.
My daughter will be 6 months and has no opinion but I might find a costume for her, she's so cute!
