There's a few trampoline parks near us so I've been thinking about taking DS1 (3yo), but haven't found the time to go during their designated toddler hours.
Are open sessions pretty safe? Have you gone? Do they jump alone, or do you go with them?

YES!
We brought J on MLK day.. bought a ticket just for him but he really didn't know what to do. So I went back and bought a ticket and we had SO MUCH FUN!
I've gone back once since then and can't wait to go again.
PS - GREAT workout, lol

The kids love it. We learned the hard way to go right when it opens so it's not crowded. The first time, my DD sprained an ankle, and my DD cut his lip when colliding with another kid mid-air. And they are not too small, 7 and 4 yr. But they always beg to go so we just go super early before it gets busy. They jump by themselves.

LO went around that age. Though super fun she got tired really fast so hardly worth the money but I'm glad we did it.

I took my girls in Jan when DD1 was 4.75 and DD2 was 16 mos. They both had a ball, but not so much because of the jumping DD2 was still crawling a lot at that time and she had a blast just crawling everywhere...and DD1 had fun building with the foam blocks. We went on a Friday morning and there were like 2 other kids there, so it wasn't crazy or rowdy.

LO went with his cousin last summer. He was 4 and had a blast. DH is very against trampoline parks (showed me too many injuries) and won't allow LO to go anymore.

Our three year old LOVES them. She has no fear and seems to never tire! We go during open jump and have never had an issue finding a spot that isn't too crowded.

Yes we've been a few times. My 4 year old loves it. We took our almost 2 year old and he was very leary so my husband jumped with him and my husband said it was a great work out.

We haven't been to a trampoline park but LO loves jumping on the trampoline at his gymnastics. I wonder if you would feel more comfortable at one of the free play sessions at a gym vs. the trampoline park?

@mrsjyw: we bring LO (3.5) to one often - there is a "toddler" area for kids up to the age of 4, and he LOVES it.... he's gotten hurt a couple of times, usually bonking heads with another kid when there are a lot jumping into the foam pits at the same time, but otherwise it's been fine.

I haven't (LO is 9mo), and had been planning to someday, but I recently read an article about how dangerous they are. Doctors apparently highly recommend against any trampolines. It's easy for kids (or adults) to just come down wrong and snap a bone. So now I'm less sure.

we only got during toddler time so she can't get bowled over. she loves it! i haven't been able to jump since last year since i've been pregnant/have scout... also because i pee my pants now! hahahahaha

There's one I know of and every time I drive by the location, there's always an ambulance coming out of there.
I wouldn't recommend going when it's busy especially with younger kids. Older kids can get so rowdy.

DD (she'll be 3 next month) had been several times and constantly asks to go jump! We take her during open times and keep her in the toddler area if it's busy, when it's not crowded, she LOVES jumping in the foam pits with DH. I actually can't wait until I deliver so I can jump around with her.
