LO's daycare needs volunteers for an outing, and i'm debating whether i should go. I don't know if she'll cling to me because i'm there - has anyone had any experiences?

I have gone on the field trips. She wasn't clingy and still wanted to play with her friends.

Last year I went to the zoo with my DS's class and yes he was clingy! Then again, that's typical him too!
I didn't volunteer this year

Yes. It's a great way to get involved. Once I made a teacher week flyer, another time a field trip and another time I sprayed and wiped their nap mats.

My LO only started a week ago, and I could see maybe coming along on a field trip or something, but considering how much I pay them I wouldn't be doing any cleaning or anything like another poster has mentioned.

DS nursery school is a co-op so I have volunteer duties at least once a month. I was only in his class once and it did not go well...he was super whiny and clingy the whole time.
