she LOVES animals, and they have both of these toys at the place where my girls take dance class. so she is familiar and enjoys both.
same price.

We got that horse stable as a Christmas present. My 2.5 yr old loves taking the horses in and out BUT the horses really have a hard time standing up. Their little legs are mostly knock-kneed. Ours look much worse than the stock photo!

@sorrycharlie: we have that stable! No issues with them standing though...@sojellybean: maybe a defect on yours?

Probably a defect! They do ok on hard surfaces. Just won't be winning any confirmation classes anytime soon!

We don't have either of those specific toys, but I would choose the stable. My son got a car playmat for his second birthday, but spends much more time playing with his car transporter and car wash where he can bring the cars in and out.

slightly different idea: we got DS this as his big gift for Christmas https://store.schoolspecialty.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?minisite=10206&item=484247&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzNfDBRD2xKrO4pSnnOkBEiQAbzzeQXKlF94ihzTaJ0NpydxZqpGZDtTvZ1xN9fTPaPzcO2waAiQG8P8HAQ (not sure why it shows up as $122 - we paid $80 for it... ETA: I'm sure similar versions could be found cheaper too).
It is a little generic looking than the stable, so he uses it as both a dollhouse and as a zoo/barn for his various animals - and he LOVES it.
Right now, he has 1 animal in each "room" and his people are also inside visiting them. Like a bizarre 2 story zoo or something? Upstairs is moose, polar bear, and giraffe. Downstairs is bison, and 'farm' (cow, rooster, piggie).

I would buy the mat. I feel like the stable could be an easy diy or even a project you can do with the kids where they make and decorate their own out of cardboard boxes. And the dollar store almost always has horses so you can just grab a couple from there.

There's also a really cute Playmobil stable that we love! My daughter is 2 and really enjoys it but I did put away the tiny pieces for when she's older.

I vote stable or similar too. DS just turned 2 in November and he looooves putting animals, people, cars, in the 'stalls' of his little people barn. He can do it for a solid half hour switching them around and making them 'visit' each other.

and you guys know as well as I do - that because she plays with this while older DD does dance class, she'll have no interest at home. hahaha. murphy's law of childhood.
I'm leaning stable..only because we have the melissa and doug car rug, and they don't bother with it. but they could use it for the horses because it has a farm smack dab in the middle!

Can you get both? They are so different and I can see my two year old enjoying both!
