So as many of you know I haven't felt too confident in my pregnancy thus far. A few minutes ago I started bleeding bright red...but it is 11:30 PM and I live 30 minutes away from a hospital that takes my insurance. I am assuming m/c is starting. Should I go in now just in case it is something else? If it is, can it wait until tomorrow? The idea of going to an ER, waking baby, and being told it is a m/c just sounds exhausting. Please my ignorance on this subject.....I feel like an ass for even asking these stupid questions.

Personally, I would go in. How far along are you? I had a lot of heavy bright red with my first pregnancy and did not m/c.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: hugs! I have no experience with something like this but hopefully some can chime in. I would call my OB's office and have the phone service page whoever is on call to do a phone consult with you. They should be able to give you some advice and will likely follow you through the night if they want you to wait and see about the bleeding. Or they will tell you whether you need to go to an ER right away. I'm really hoping everything is ok!

@matador84: I am somewhere between 9 and 11 weeks. Not sure because the baby measuring two weeks behind was what tipped me off that a m/c might be imminent.
I appreciate your perspective! I kinda was afraid that not going in was a bad idea, but that going in makes me a drama queen.

genius, duh! I didn't have an ob at the time of my bleeding so I had to go straight to er. Hoping for the best.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I really hope everything is ok! I have lots of experience calling our pediatrician's office and they are so quick at returning the phone call after hours even at 2am and they would call back after an hour to check up and often call the next day to follow up. Good luck mama!

Usually they will tell you to go to the ER if you have bright red bleeding that is more than one pad an hour. Otherwise they will most likely tell you to come into the office the next day. Hope it's just bleeding/spotting which happens.

I'm replying 6 hours later... hope you were able to get a hold of your OB and get an ultrasound scheduled today. Does your OB have an after hours line you can call? I believe most do and they can tell you what to do depending on your case. Thinking of you and whatever happens we are all here for you. Hugs!

Either way I would definitely call the OB this morning. When I ended up in the ER one weekend due to bleeding, my OB was very happy to get me in that Monday.
