We will soon be buying a 2016 Odyssey, I seriously can not believe how excited I am about buying a minivan, haha. If you have one, how are your car seats set up? I have a FF Radian and a RF Marathon. Would it be crazy to take out the middle row passenger seat and put both kids there?

Yea!! You'll love it! I have a 2015 EXL.
We had my daughter FF in the middle seat and my son RF behind the passenger seat in a britax boulevard.

@HappyBaker: what seat are you thinking of taking out and why? You mean the seat behind the passenger so you would have one kid middle row middle seat and one kid behind the driver?
We just didn't see the need to take out one of the seats because there is plenty of room for two seats next to each other. We keep the third row folded down most often so it was nice to have the extra seat in the middle row for a guest.

@T.H.O.U.: yea that's what I was thinking so it would be easier for people to get in the back row. We most often would have 2 extra adults (grandparents). If all 3 seats are in the middle row does one of them slide up so people can get in? I clearly need to go test drive one!!

@HappyBaker: yes. So you know the three middle row seats can "expand" right? They shift out towards the doors about an inch on either side. We have ours expanded. That gives the empty seat in the middle row enough room for it to flip/slide forward for someone to get into the third row as needed.
I think your FF radian is going to be even more narrow than our FF frontier so you should definitely be fine.

@T.H.O.U.: we splurged on the weathertech's. The front one piece and the back big one. We are just 4 months into having the Odyssey and I'm so glad we have the mats!
We have done a zillion seat configurations already, I prefer them in third row, with middle middle and middle behind driver out. Right now middle middle is out w them behind the driver and passenger. Not sure what we'll do when #3 arrives!

@sunnyday: exciting! Yea I think I need to bite the bullet and get the mats. I need to get my windows tinted too.
We have three across in the middle now but we flipped so it's two FF and one infant bucket. Only my oldest is able to buckle by herself and sometimes she needs help unbuckle

@T.H.O.U.: Maybe it's cause I'm fat preggo right now, but I feel like the middle row is so hard to get across, so now I am going to each of their sides to buckle in instead of across/over one to reach the other, and why I did prefer at least one in third row with one outside middle seat removed (plus the dog likes this way, too!)
But yes, bite the bullet on the mats, they are great.....we also splurged (so much splurging with this damn van!) on Honda seat covers for 2nd and 3rd row and they are so awesome.
Is bucket best in the middle? Three across seems so busy, but likely the way we'll go, yay for wide mode! I have one diono too, so that helps, it's just not a great seat compared to our others (Graco) for recline and resting in if we're going more than 20 minutes somewhere.

I highly recommend trying to get the floormats added during your negotiations. That's what we've done with every car purchase we've done. Once it's gotten to the price point that we want, we always say "ok throw in the all weather mats and you got a deal". we got the odyssey 2 months ago and LOVE it!

@leelee: Honda doesn't offer a one piece second and third row mat like weathertech does, so totally depends what you want, but the coverage of the Honda mat wasn't what we were looking for! We negotiated the roof rails, splash guards and 3M protection stuff for the nose and mirrors.
