If you had a picky eater toddler, when did he or she grow out of it? Or maybe, did he or she grow out of it?

My three year old daughter has been pretty selective about food since she was 18 months old. It surprises me a bit at this stage because she loves to "help" me cook and prepare new-to-her foods, but when it comes time to try them, she doesn't want to. We offer her a variety of food (3-4 options, with 1 we know for sure she likes) on a plate at a meal, but she reliably sticks with her favorites for what she actually eats. It's rare that she'll even try the food that isn't a favorite, though sometimes she'll at least take a bite and spit it out. We stay pretty low-key about what she does or doesn't eat and keep meal time upbeat.

I generally take what she does food-related in stride, but am starting to wonder to myself if there's hope on the horizon for a little more openness to variety?
