We used our phone chargers, DSLR, birth playlist, back of snacks and champagne, baby book (got a second set of footprints done in there, which was cute), my contact lens stuff. Did not use: pretty much any of the clothing I brought, since I just stayed in the gown (usually pulled down to my waist since I was working on breastfeeding constantly) even after the birth. I never felt like showering so didn't use most of my toiletries or other stuff. But my birth was 2.5 hours long so may not be typical.

I honestly didn't even use a lot of what I packed! I think we used:

- Toiletries
- Nightgown that buttoned down
- Sleep/nursing bra
- Phone charger
- Camera
- Snacks
- Going home outfit for DD
- Clothes for me to wear home

Things we didn't use:

- Most of the items I planned to use for setting up the environment (battery operated candles, essential oil, music, etc)
- Comfort items (heatable rice pack, self-cooling towel, massage tools)
- Book/crossword puzzles
- Diapers

I wish I'd brought:

- Nursing pillow
- My own pillow for sleeping

i definitely overpacked and didn't need so many clothes, but i will say i was so glad to have nice toiletries. that first shower was honestly kind of gross but i was so happy to have some nice shampoo etc. (especially my shampoo filled with chemicals that i had sworn off during pregnancy.)

Extension cord and my own pillow were both amazing to have.

I brought my own pillow with me given the fact it was mentioned over and over on HB to do, but DH was a butt and refused to get it out of the car.

All I really needed was loungy PJs, elastic band for my hair, shower shoes, toiletries, phone charger, something to read, and something to write with & on. I wish I had already figured out a good nursing or sports bra to have on hand like Bravo. I didn't really think DH would have been such a stickler for following the no eating rules (nurses following doctor's orders), but I would definitely pack some kind of snack next time post-birth. When my doctor came to see me she was shocked I hadn't eaten yet.

@RonjaL7: A light on in the bathroom? Why? So they didnt trip if they had to come in in the middle of the night?

My Contigo water bottle, glasses, phone charger, Chapstick, toothbrush/paste and baby outfit. I put clean clothes on before I went and put those same clothes on when I left.

Oh yeah we had a luxe cooler filled all my own clear liquids and snacks for after birth. And my husband had a giant sushi platter on order for our postpartum feast both times.

The only things I’d add to the above are nursing tanks that you can just throw a robe or button down night shirt over, nice toiletries that make you feel slightly pampered, and your own (dark) fluffy towel from home. Oh and I wished that I’d remember to find extra long phone charging cords!

Didn’t need: pretty much everything else
I brought a boppy but it’s really terrible for me for the newborn phase (and the LCs there hate it). I should have brought my breast friend

Nice to have: Gatorade, big nylon bags to lug shit home with. Tinted moisturizer and a natural
lip gloss so I didn’t look like total death in al of the pics that are taken after

@LindsayInNY: with both of my kids I got really bad swelling in my legs after delivery. I got a few bags of saline coupled with being in bed for most of the delivery/induction and then just not up and walking around as much as I normally do after giving birth. The swelling was not fun and the compression stockings really help. I work in hospitals where TED hose (hospital compression stocking) are giving as a matter of course for most patients, so I found they help in most cases.
