@bluestriped bee: the policies for preemie moms really suck because basically they don't exist. Do you have any accrued sick leave? I ended up going to psych services just so I could use mine. Then I took FMLA. I was out for a total of 7 months...

Just catching up. You are amazing, and I hope those babies stay put. Keep up your positive attitude, as I'm sure it helps.

My son was born at 34 weeks and I ended up working from home for a few months to be able to bond with him. Is that a possibility? Great update besides the negative part on maternity leave.

Bummer about your maternity leave. Does your company offer a supplemental FMLA at all? Mine offers something that isn't job protected, but allows for people to stay home longer. Maybe your company has something like that? Thinking of you!

@MenagerieMama: Thanks. I'll see what my Dr says and yes, I'm using STD to pay for my mat leave.

@skipper2010: This is an idea that I could do. I guess it would depend on when these babies are born and if they are out of the hospital when my recovery time is up.

@Mrs. Tiger: I could look into that it sounds like my company has the unpaid bonding time that I could use. I'm feeling much better today after thinking everything over. It sounds like I'll have to take some amount of unpaid time off to bond and take care of these babies when they do make it home.

@Mrs Green Grass: I have some sick time but not much. I was sick earlier this year, then the IVF treatments and then the HG I had earlier in pregnancy made me use up a lot of my sick days. I have to have 5 sick days (or use vacation) prior to my leave starting. My HR rep was checking to see how many sick days I have left. I think unpaid bonding leave is sort of inevitable at this point. It wasn't something I was planning on using a lot of but now that my babies will in nicu, its best that I take advantage of it and stay home with the babies. I, also, don't have to decide how much unpaid leave I'll use until the babies are born and I'm close to using up the 6-8 weeks to recover. So I have some time to figure things out.

@bluestriped bee: Dang! I go on family vacation and completely miss this! I'm so sorry, and I saw your update about the maternity leave policy - that really stinks. But sit tight and hopefully those babies stay in for a few more weeks.

@bluestriped bee: Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. FX you can come up with a satisfactory solution at work, so you'll have plenty of time to settle in once your babies are home!

@BabyBoecksMom: @FliegepilzHut: thank you!
So 29 weeks today!!
I'm starting to get bored in this hospital. Bored of the food. DH may have to start bringing me food. It's not even a week, yet.
Yesterday, I was tired and felt nauseous. Might be from the antibiotics.
Maybe I can get the DH to bring the dogs this weekend.

@bluestriped bee: Ugh yes the food. Do they have a fridge you can store stuff in? Are you/were you on magnesium?
Yay for 29 weeks!

@bluestriped bee: oh man! I'm so sorry but so glad to hear you are at 29!
What about delivery foods? I'm sure the nurses would know what places deliver. If you get desperate you could even ask one of them to take some cash from you down to the hospital cafeteria.
Hope the puppies can come visit!

Oh wow! Just now reading this and sorry to have not checked in earlier. Hang in there! I'm glad HB can be a little break for you. You're a tough mama already!

@bluestriped bee: definitely get some real, non-hospital food! I was in the hospital for. 6 days with labor/delivery/recovery and we had people bring me multiple meals. So much better than hospital food all the time!

@bluestriped bee: do you have any friends you could convince to bring you outside food? Are you allowed that?
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Thanks all. Babies and I are still doing well. No contractions. Still leaking amniotic fluid but it's trace amounts. Ultrasound yesterday (a week after I was admitted) looks good as well.
@Mrs.KMM: @mediagirl: DH has been bringing me outside food. I have friends and coworkers coming by later this week.
@Adira: Yup, DH brought the dogs this weekend. It was great. Really boosted my spirits. He will bring them by some time this week.
