We are closing on our first house in a week! Eek!
The house has mixture of chrome and 90's shiny brass fixtures. We are going to slowly replace them with either brushed nickel or oil-rubbed bronze. Which one would you pick? I think I like oil-rubbed bronze the best at the moment, but I also like brushed nickel. I can't decide.
I have seen that brass fixtures are coming back into style, but I just don't care for the look.

Currently in just the same situation- lots of dated, beat up, shiny brass here. I actually love the new antique brass things I've been seeing but we are planning on one of your two choices. I'm leaning towards oil rubbed bronze. I just really love the look of it. I do worry it will eventually be dated where the nickel is more timeless, maybe, but that's what I'm thinking.

We have both and I prefer the oil rubbed bronze. Depends on the color of tiles and all too though.

@NCSUchick27: Congrats! We just built a house and chose all oil rubbed bronze, even for the door handles and hinges. I feel like it's one of those trends like rose gold engagement rings. Super popular online but I know very few people IRL who have it!

We have ORB and matte brass as well as some flat black. All complentary without having to stick to only one metal.

Personally, I prefer brushed nickel. But I think both are nice and it really depends on what other colors and materials will be around them.

We have a more rustic feel to our house so we did everything in the oil-rubbed bronze. I LOVE it!

I'm currently building a house and went with old rubbed bronze, my style is farmhouse/rustic/industrial so it fit my esthetic better. (they are more expensive just an FYI than brushed nickel)

We have oil rubbed bronze (builder's choice) and I like it just fine - - I guess I would want to know colors of counter-tops, cabinetry, etc before saying one over the other.
