DD will be around 2 years 3 months when baby sister arrives. She knows "baby's room" but I don't think she GETS it (obviously). I've been showing her the baby's clothes, diapers, etc...we have been putting newborn diapers on her dolls together, talking about how little, putting her doll in the baby swing etc.
I am so nervous about this. She is a total mama's girl and really takes awhile to warm up to other kids her age/younger so I have no idea what to expect.

Chloe was a month shy of being 3. She was beyond in love with her little sister. Biggest smile, full of hugs and kisses, and couldn't wait to hold her. The girls meeting for the first time brought tears to our eyes - such a great family moment for the four of us.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Photos of siblings meeting always made me tear up! I so hope we have a good meeting... I'm terrified of her saying "no!" Or freaking out. Which has kinda been her thing lately.. If DH kisses me she freaks.

Xander is 21 months and he's slowly warming up to Logan. When he visited us in the hospital, he basically wanted nothing to do with the baby. When we brought him home, he pretty much ignored him. He's acted out a few times, but I'm not positive if it's Logan-related or just his age. Logan's been home with us for 2.5 weeks now and Xander is starting to warm up to him. He's asks to hold him a couple times and will run over to his bassinet when he cries. He sometimes gets upset when I say I need to feed Logan, but mostly he seems okay with it as long as Hubs is around to entertain him. It's been interesting!

Mine are 20 months apart. I always talked about the baby to DS and told him he was getting a little brother. They would be best friends and love each other, etc. I really did not think it was sinking in because I got zero acknowledgement. I was worried for nothing! From the moment they met it was nothing but love. He gave him a kiss with no prompting. It makes me so happy to see the love that is natural between them. We really have had minimal jealousy issues.

@sorrycharlie: haha Olivia sounds so much like tour. In fact any time I talk about his baby sister for the baby he acts like he doesn't hear me or loses interest and I really do think it's on purpose because when I teach him about Christmas or Halloween or other things he is so on board and gets obsessed. he loves other children but not babies. Also he said no and got very jealous when I babysit that little girl in the summer. So I imagine we'll go somewhat the same maybe worse for us. We shall see!

Mine are only 16.5 months apart so obviously L did not get it at all. When he met D in the hospital he pretty much ignored him - I think he was too distracted by the hospital setting, seeing me since I'd never been away for so long, etc. Once we got home with him he quickly became OBSESSED. Constantly trying to touch D, leaning over the RnP, trying to grab at his feet and lean his head up against his to stare right at him...there was a lot of pulling him away and demonstrating gentle touches. Oh, and four the first few weeks L screamed bloody murder every time we changed D's diaper. I have no idea what that was about!
Now at 2 months out, he always runs over to him waving and saying, "Hi! Baby!" when he wakes up in the morning and after his nap. He has learned to hover instead of actually touching since I can't trust him yet to not apply too much pressure. And he loves to lay next to D on the play mat...well, when he's not busy trying to pull the toys off of it. We're still working on that! He has really never acted jealous, but I think that's kind of just his personality; he's very easygoing when it comes to stuff like that.

She was very curious and stared at her for the first week. There wasn't much jealousy until LO 2 started getting more mobile. In our case, that was after 12 months!

@sorrycharlie: the hardest part is Chloe trying to play mommy. Her favorite phrase is "mom! Charlie woked up all by herself!" HAHA. No she didn't you stinker! 
I try to make her involved as much as possible. She'll get me diapers and wipes, she picks out clothes for the baby (she can reach the dresser drawers & the closet), and lays on the floor to play with her. We are working on being gentle and not touching the baby's head.
There are definitely some jealousy issues. It's to be expected. Chloe had my undivided attention for nearly three years and suddenly there's a new person in the house who demands half my time. If my mom is holding Charlotte, Chloe will whine and want my mom to snuggle with her too. If my aunt sits on the couch beside me Chloe will say, "hey! That's MY mommy!" If a classmate at preschool wants to touch Charlotte she'll say "that's MY sister!"
But there's the sweet moments that make my heart melt. She was at grandmas last Saturday while we worked on her Xmas gift. She ran and gave sissy a hug when we picked her up and said "oh Charlie Cat I just missed you so much all day!" and she gives little sis hugs and kisses every morning. There's the I love you'd & the "look what I can dos" (because there is SO MUCH big sisters can do that little sisters can't...!) and her teaching and sharing with Charlotte. It sounds silly but the first time she shared her my little ponys with Charlotte, my heart melted. No one is allowed to touch those things LOL
