I'm in full blown nesting mode, and my closet needs an organzing/storage redo.
I currently have all my "costume" jewelry in a couple different baskets, which are not easy to go through. And my scarves in a big basket. They are all over the place, and it's bothering me.
How do you store these thing? I do not have room to hang anything on the wall so necklace rack/scarf rack is out of question, it must fit on a shelf or be hung up where I hang clothes (not idea for necklaces.)

I've also just looped them around a regular plastic hanger.

It won't hold it all, but it will hold the stuff I use most frequently.

@LuLu Mom: no they do not stack at all, they're floppy.
So they're not the best if you have to remove them from a shelf, for example.

Sadly our nearest IKEA is 4 hours away, so I'll have to make another run there soon for organizing stuff, I think it's my best bet to see it in person. @looch: yeah I need something that will stack/look clutterless, but it gives me an idea of what to look for.
I do plan on eliminating a lot of my stuff, some of it is just not things I ever wear and no need to keep/store it.

@LuLu Mom: That's what I love about it. It takes up way less space than having them folded on a shelf. I've also seen similar things at Target, Walmart, and Bed Bath & beyond if you don't want to make the trek to Ikea.

For costume jewelry, I'd caution against getting anything metal. I hang everything on a tie rack that was in my closet when I moved in, but my costume jewelry started to tarnish (and some of it developed this weird metallic smell). The stuff I keep in boxes that's been bought from the same places hasn't done this.
I'd look for wood or plastic hangers.

For scarves I use a multiple pants hanger and just drap over the rods.
For Jewelry: my Dad made me a big box with hooks that I hang all my necklaces on. Then earrings I put chicken wire behind a glassless frame and hang them on that. Bracelets are in a bowl.

It's not the prettiest or most high-tech solution, but inside my walk-in closet I stuck in a bunch of plastic pushpins and I hang necklaces from there. It's super easy to move things around and I can see all of them at once. For earrings, I just try to keep them on the cardboard they came on and keep them in a drawer.
