I had my first mis-pronunciation of my Daughters name today! I didn't even think there would be multiple pronounciations! So I am curious how common this will be.
So ... How would you pronounce Delaney

I've seen that name for a boy and girl before, but I've never heard it said aloud. In my head for a boy I say the first and a girl I say the second.

I picked the second, but it's more like duh-lay-knee vs. a "de" (dee) type sound.

Duh-LAY-knee. But wouldn't be surprised if you corrected me and told me it was DEE-Lay-knee. Anything else would be unexpected (as in I can't figure out how else to say it!)

I picked de-lay-knee but as I said it out loud, it sounds more like dee-lay-knee.

@pastemoo: they pronounced it Dell-a-knee and I didn't even realize they were calling us up (it was at the immunization clinic) I felt so dumb!

@pastemoo: ahhhh I have the opposite problem. I'm Gabrielle, but almost *always* get "Gabriel"!! So frustrating - for both of us!

@MsMini: i sympathize. My LO's name is pronounced the French way, but in English it is different and we now live in a primarily English province so it always get mispronounced!
