Not off to a great start. Bad lower back pain and coughing, fever, headache, hibernating like a bear. But still very much looking forward to 2017! Optimistic!
How is your first week of 2017 going?

Not awesome. New Year's Day the 10mo was a hot.freaking.mess and only wanted to be held. By me. All day. Otherwise she screamed like she was being burned alive. And then Jan 2 I found out that my best friend died on New Year's Day of a massive heart attack while visiting his younger brother in California. He was 36.

Not amazing, but not too bad. The toddler was off daycare for 10 days over Christmas and getting him back into the routine has been stressful - lots of tears and begging to stay home, which has been hard, and the baby has been going through something and gets tired and grumpy very quickly. Otherwise ok.

By the time Friday comes around I will have worked 10 days with only one day off. I have had a cold for a week that still hasn't subsided and I'm starting to feel painful and uncomfortable from pregnancy.
I'm mostly just upset about the work thing. Ugh. I'm exhausted.

@erinbaderin: @Mrs. Sunshine: Thank you.
Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer on the New Year's post. I am trying to remain optimistic and hope that things can only go up from here. But it's been a rough start, for sure.

It's been a blur because I have a newborn... I don't think I even really processed that it's 2017 haha! My original due date is tomorrow and DD2 is already 2 weeks old!

@littlebug: Oh my - I am so, so sorry.
I was sick NYE and then my husband was sick NY day. But now that we're back to normal life, the week is pretty good. I've been applying to more writing jobs and things look good.

So far so good! Got chrismtas decor put away, did a few house things that needed to be done and I think I'm only one load of laundry behind. Everyone is back to school/work today

We are ringing in the New Year with trip to snowy lands with extended family and some exciting times in the city so it has been a good week.

It has actually been really challenging so far. E's school only went back today and she was so bored by the end of the break, despite our best attempts, she was being a beast. We've all had colds and mine has gone on my chest now. And S has been cutting four teeth at once, so she hasn't slept for two nights and has been inconsolable. After 6 months consistent weight loss (35lb so far), I gained 3.5lb over Christmas with very minimal indulgence. DH has been really short staffed at work due to sickness, he is about ready to drop. So, all in all, pretty rubbish.
I'm still positive about 2017 though.....

Not great. He's getting over a cold - that he gave to me so now I'm suffering through it. Our daughter is dealing with the wrath that happens when we are both sick and have 0 patience. Poor kid. She had an amazing first day back to school yesterday and then meltdown central today. Ugh. Here's to things looking up from here!

Fine. I had a stomach bug NYE that lasted until yesterday basically, but we're just trucking along. Back at work after the holidays, kids are good.

Sorry to hear things aren't going well for you Mrs. Bee. Mine is off to a pretty good start. I've been tackling as many tasks as possible, getting the house in shape post-holiday, making returns, budgeting, cleaning, etc. And now that Little CC is back in school, I am accomplishing a lot more work related tasks too. Mr. CC and I are fighting off the remnants of the cold that won't die, but I feel like we are both ALMOST better.

Things are going okay. At my house, things are fine. LO has adjusted back to the routine of daycare well. Work is manageable. DH has been helpful. Pregnancy isn't crushing me this week. But... my dad is currently in surgery and that worries me. It could be cancer. Trying to stay positive...

@littlebug: I am so sorry for your loss
It's been going pretty well for us so far. On Jan 1 we were exhausted from staying up too late on NYE (though it was a very low key night with friends) plus a road trip back home, but we seem to have recovered. Except, I'm 35 weeks pregnant and getting anxious about checking all of the work and nesting things checked off my to-do list before maternity leave. I have actually been getting a lot done in the last two days since lo1 went back to daycare though, so that's good! Lo1 was born early so I'm nervous about whether I actually have 5 more weeks left or fewer. But also trying to take it easy--my body is getting more uncomfortable, so I'm trying to treat myself to naps/yoga/massages and not force myself to work when I'm mentally and physically spent. It's hard for me to balance, though--I either want to veg out completely or throw myself into projects.

Wow! So many people starting off the new year sick! We've got the flu and strep right now but are slowly getting better (and decontaminating the house).
After all the presents from DS's birthday and Christmas, I feel like I need to reorganize the whole house to make room. So lots of cleaning and purging going on here.

A bad fall on the ice on the 1st has left me with an elbow that is most likely broken. I go back for another set of x rays next week to confirm (too much fluid in the elbow to be certain from the original x rays). I'm a SAHM so taking care of DD has been insanely challenging and very painful. DH is still dealing with a very big back injury from last year so he can only pick up so much of the slack right now.
The fall could have been so much worse since I was carrying DD. I used my elbow to prevent her head from hitting the pavement. I can't imagine if that had happened. So even though I am in excruciating pain I'm glad it played out the way it did.
@littlebug: I am so very sorry.
