Just wanted to get a feel for how long most LOs are at daycare during the day. Mine are usually there from about 7:30 am - 4:30 pm depending on the day. Sometimes I feel bad, but realize there are a lot of others that are there much longer.

7:15 - 5:45. It's a long day and he comes home exhausted, but he has a blast and I know he's in great hands.

i'm so worried about this. we both work in the city and are usually gone from the house 630am-615pm. we are going to have to figure something out because that feels way too long

@loki: I feel your pain! We commute and did make some slight adjustments with LO, I leave later to do drop off (catch the last train into the city!) and my husband leaves earlier in the morning but comes home earlier since daycare closes at 6! I was worried but it mostly worked itself out! It's a long day, but LO has fun so it's all good.

This past year, she went to a center near our house from 8-4:30...on average. So, 8.5 hours?
This year, she will be commuting with me so will be in the actual center from 7:45-3:15 ish. BUT she will be sitting in her carseat for 50 minutes each way which I actually think is worse for her (I'd rather her be playing and stimulated at a daycare in that time). So, 7.5 hours in a center + almost 2 hours in a car = 9.5 hours this year.

9-10 hours. He usually gets in between 7:00-7:30 and pick-up anywhere between 4:30 and 5:30.

@hellobeeboston: ya maybe we'll have to stagger our work hours. i'm hoping by the time i'm back from my mat leave, my company is more open to working from home occasionally. my DH might be able to work from home a few days a week and we're hoping grandmas can come up once in a while as well. we will make it work, but as it stands right now it's just going to be so hard. i'm only 6 weeks so i have some time to think about it haha.

Depends on the day. Monday is 7 hours, but Tuesday and Thursday are 9, and Wednesday is about 8. He doesn't usually go on Fridays unless DH has extra work meetings.

Sadly, they are there from 7am-5:30ish pm. I hate that they are there that long but it's just life right now!

Depends on the day/time of year. He only goes 2 days a week- but right now Mondays he is there 6 hours, Tuesday and Wednesday he is there 8+ hours (sometimes 9) - when the fall hits and I go back to my regular work schedule he is there about 7 hours a day (only 3 days a week)

Since Monday it's 8:30-5:00 most days. 1 day a week it's 7:00-5:00.

I drop off at 7:30am (most of the time 8am because I can never get anywhere on time) and DH picks him up around 3:30pm. If DH is ever held over at work I will go pick him up because I get off at 4pm. But that hasn't happened yet.

Just over 9 hours, drop her off at 7:45 and pick up right around 5. So sad when I see it in writing.

I'm a bit nervous about this. LO is starting daycare 3 days a week in September and I'm hoping he'll be there from 8:30-4:30...

I'm SAH now, but for the first 2 years, LO went from 8:15a-5:15p. Some days were a little longer if I had an early or late meeting at work; rarely were they shorter.

When DH isn't traveling, she's in daycare 7:30-4:30. When he's out of town and it's up to me to do daycare before and after I work, it's 6:30-5:30. Thankfully DH doesn't travel all of the time.
On the flip side to that, I know she adores the family she hangs out with.

8 or 8:30 until about 4.
When LO2 starts she will only go 4-5 hours.

Well daycare is open 7:30-5 so that's the goal but 8-4:45 is more like it most days. He's almost a year you'd have think we'd have settled in but not yet, I like my sleep too much

8:30 am - 6 pm on Tue-Wed-Fri
1 pm - 6 pm on Mon
I voted 8-9 hours but I just realized DH often doesn't get there before 6 pm so it should be 9+... Ugh I hate hate hate the long hours we're making!

Usually 10 hours, 8 to 6. DS likes day care, but this is a bit too long for him and for me. A lot of evenings get very stressful because he's trying to catch up for an entire day, so I'm trying to find a way to come home earlier.

7:45a-5;45p so about 10 hours 3 days a week at nanny's house. Starting next month it'll go to 4 days a week. It does make me sad that it's so long, but I know she's in good hands, and well, we gotta do what we gotta do.
