How many oz did you send to daycare for your 4 month old (not on solids?) I can only pump about 11/12 oz a day. I have a freezer stash of about 100 ounces but I really don't want to dip into it too deeply. Do some babies just need less milk than others? I feel like I hear about babies who eat 16-20 ounces while away from mom!

H took about 12-15 oz. a day at that age. She wasn't a huge eater. If you want to pump more, have you tried eating avocado or upping your water intake? Avocado was my go-to food to help boost my supply.

@avivoca: good idea, I have a ton of avocados on hand always for DS. Will see if I can add some healthy fats to my diet...have been trying everything else to up supply!

Mine took 3x4oz bottles almost every day from 3 to 12 months. I would always send one extra smaller bottle (2 oz) and she would occasionally drink it. I think the babies who need more are often those who are sleeping through the night and/or are not nursing as frequently when they are home. At that age, I was feeding mine twice before we even left for daycare, twice in the evening, and multiple times over night. I have a friend whose baby already sleeps through the night at 4 months and she needs much more at daycare than mine ever did.

DS will be 5 months Friday and he fluctuates between 12 & 16 oz daily. Currently, I'm sending 3 - 4 oz bottles and 1 -2 oz bottle. He eats the small bottle maybe 1/2 the time. If he doesn't eat it, I use it the next day. I nurse 1-2 times in the morning before daycare, 1-3 times in the evening and he wakes once overnight to eat.
Eta: he's at daycare from 7:35-4:35, so 9'hours.

Baby spends 8.5-9.5 hours away from me at daycare and drinks 10.5-13oz during that time.

Baby is in daycare about 8:30-4:30 and drinks 13 oz. two 5 oz bottles and then a 3 oz shave bottle for the end of the day. When he was littler he didn't always drink it but now (9 mo almost) he usually does.

Both of my babies do or did drink a smaller amount. My almost 3 month old is offered a 3 ounce bottle every three hours, and he does not always finish that. So, he is offered 9 ounces, and usually eats 7-8 ounces of that. I usually go 11 hours between feedings. I nurse once in the morning, twice in the evening, and once or twice overnight. My oldest also took smaller bottles, and he STTN very early. He started out with 9 ounces a day, and maxed out at 11-12 ounces a day.

My kids were at daycare for 10 hours and did 3 bottles there, each 5 oz. So 15 oz total.

DD is 4.5 months and I send 20oz of pumped milk to daycare (4x5oz bottles). She normally takes 3 bottles, but occasionally 4. I bumped it up to 5 oz from 4 oz when she was crying after the bottle was done.

I can only pump about 11-12 oz too, so I sent that in, but also a can of formula to supplement with just in case.

DD took 12 oz pretty consistently from 4 months & up. Usually 3 4oz bottles. There were a few weeks where she took closer to 14 oz (4 3.5oz bottles). She spent (and still spends) 9 hours at daycare from 7am-4pm.

I would send three 4-oz bottles and one smaller bottle. That way the smaller bottle could return home if it wasn't needed.

I send 3 oz. bottles for every time she eats, but I try to go feed her at lunch because I can't pump enough to keep up with 3 bottles a day. So, I send between 6-9 oz. depending on the day. My freezer stash is dwindling pretty quickly, and I hope she can remain ebf until 6 months. This thread is making me think I should send more, but she's in the 80th percentile for weight...
ETA I nurse her right before I leave her at 7:30, and when I pick her up at 3:45.

I dropped off at 7am (just after nursing) and picked up at 5pm - she would nurse immediately upon getting home...
She always took 3 bottles at daycare (4oz each) and I always sent an extra...she took it probably every other day...so 12-16oz...

LO is at daycare from 9-3 and she gets 2 4-oz bottles there. I nurse her right before drop off and as soon as we get home (it's a 5 minute walk). So she basically gets 4 ounces every 2-3 hours.
