I'm just curious what others do. This summer T rarely wore shoes since it was so hot. T is a crawler and I have about 4 pairs a size- converse, hand me down Camp Wolf Mocs from my sister, ON gold Mocs and a pair of Robeez. When she's walking next year she will need rubber boots. I'm buying ahead when I see a good deal and I'm curious what is a 'typical' amount of shoes for a kid. So how many pairs of shoes does your LO have in their current size and how old are they?

Um, we generally have 1 or 2. But I have a boy, I feel like people with girls have a million pairs of shoes for them.

Over the summer DS had 2 pairs of natives (his main shoes for summer), a pair of nikes, a pair of toms, and a few pairs of flip flop w backbands. He's still wearing the toms and nikes now and we just bought a pair of rain boots and snow boots for the season. I have a new pair of Nikes in the next size for the second half of this winter. DS turns three in 2 weeks.

I do very few pairs of shoes, my son is very selective of what he wears and I don't want to make shoes a battle.
So he has 2 pairs of sneakers, one pair of winter boots and one pair of lined crocs (house shoes), age 5.

We usually have four - one pair of sneakers, one pair of nicer shoes (she loves mary janes), and two pairs of seasonal shoes (this summer, we had crocs + sandals, right now we have some furry boots + snow boots). I always go back and forth on rain boots but haven't bought them so far and it's been fine.

I have a 2.5 year old girl. We try to keep it simple but quality. She has see kai run sneakers, Bogs boots for rain/cold weather, and a pair of black stride rite dress shoes. Oh, and two pairs of slippers (one for home, one for daycare). We will get snow boots soon for winter.
In the summer she also had pink crocs and a pair of water shoes for rocky beaches.
She may have a few more in the next size up but thats because we got a bunch of hand me downs/ yard sale scores.

2-3. For summer, he had sandals and casual shoes (not sneakers, but like Toms or something similar). Well, and water shoes, f you want to get technical. Now, going in to Fall/Winter, he has a pair of sneakers. I'll pick up a nicer pair of shoes for holiday parties and then boots for out in the snow.

My son is 3.5 and he has about 6 pairs of shoes. My daughter is almost 1 and she has um, more. But I love shoes. I'd say 3-4 is a good number.

Random question - how are you buying ahead? How do you know size? I feel like I'm missing something as everybody always talks about buying shoes ahead.

She has two pairs. I need to get her a pair of sneakers/boots and a dressy pair for church/holidays.

One pair per size until they get worn out. The only time I buy more than one of the same size is if the ones I've bought don't end up working. A pair of Toms kept slipping off his heel when he ran, so I gave those away and got a different kind of shoe. We don't need specialty shoes like boots.

Two pairs. One pair of sneakers and one season pair of shoes. In the summer he has natives, and in the winter he had a pair of snow boots. Also throw in a pair of rainboots.

My son is almost 3 and we have two pairs of shoes for each season. So in the summer/fall he has a pair of Stride Rite sandals and a pair of Crocs. In the winter/spring he has a pair of sneakers, and a pair of everyday boots. And we also buy one pair of snow boots each year, but he obviously does not wear those often. On a daily basis though, he gets to choose from two pairs of shoes.

2 max! I used to do 2 and one always went unworn. Now I buy one in her size and one a size up. So currently a SKR maryjane sneaker in 7 and winter boots in 8.

Rain boots, winter boots, running shoes, dress shoes, fashion boots, fashion sneakers.My ten month old has one pair in her size. I need more for her but she has tiny tiny feet and I need early walkers but haven't found any in size one yet.

2-3 pairs in sizes 4-5 but I have a couple of large size pairs. It kinda depends on the brand of shoe so I keep the size 4s since they still fit him but also buy a size up since he'll outgrow them fairly quickly. He's 16 mos. I am constantly looking for deals so if I see something that's super cheap in the next size I'll snag it up.

Our staples for DD1 who is almost 3 is probably 4 or 5 pairs in each size.
I just bought her the Freshly Picked older kid shoes and they are ADORABLE and I feel like they are so versatile, as in she can wear with jeans or tights/tunics , and even dresses with tights, that it eliminates the need for so many shoes.
Right now she has the Freshly Picked, a pair of NB tennis shoes, a pair of patent dress shoes, Crocs for play, and Ugg boots for winter.
I feel like these two will be the main ones we need and we could probably get away with these and a pair of the NBs for the winter:

We have sneakers, rubber boots, "fashion" boots, Mary Janes and a pair of Natives that stays at school. I try to be a shoe minimalist but it seems like we need all of these to rotate through so that her shoes don't get stinky. LO is 3yo.

My 22mo boy has 3 pairs of shoes - one pair of high top trainers, slippers and welly boots. He does also have some espadrille type shoes but they are put away now as they're not winter appropriate!

1 pair sneakers she won't wear
2 pair boots she won't wear (one was handed down)
2 pair random cheap shoes I found at consignment she hasn't worn yet. -
My son had one pair until about 2. Then he had three pairs: tennis shoes, church shoes and ani boots. In the summer swap boots for keens. Now he has about that plus some handmedown rain boots.
My daughter has about 8 pairs of robeez type shoes in the 6-12 month size, all of my friends got them for me for my shower, because my son had these crazy fat feet. Her feet are so super tiny, I don't know when they will fit her! (She's 3 months). -
2-3. My almost 3 year old has a pair of Sauconys, a pair of rain boots and a pair of dress shoes. My almost one year old has a pair of Robeez, a dress shoe and a pair of boots. She doesn't need the boots, but they're hand me downs.

When she first started walking, she had about 4-5 pairs per size - usually a pair of Crocs (easy to slip on and off quickly), Mary Janes, boots / sandals depending on season, and sneakers.
She has waaaaay too many shoes now at 3.5. Prob 15-20 pairs ... I bought too many 9s when Amazon was having shoe sales

DS is almost 5 and has sneakers, Keens, Natives, rain boots and winter boots. It's cold here though so the Keens and Natives are being stored for our younger LO.
DD is 23 months and has sneakers, rain boots and winter boots. She also has Mary Jane-like shoes that still fit but it's getting to cold to wear them so I've hidden them.

DS is 3.5 and he has 2 sneakers, rain boots and winter boots. At the beginning of summer I usually will get a pair of sandals/crocs for water play.

I have a boy. He had one pair of sneakers and one pair of sandals over the summer. He also had some knock off crocs, but he didn't like to wear them. Right now he has two pairs of sneakers and one pair of rain boots. I do have one pair of shoes in the next size up ready for his next growth spurt, but only because I got a really good deal.

She just started walking a couple of months ago. We have a pair of sneakers, a pair of warm lined boots, and some sandles. The boots are size 6, the other two are size 5. She's 17 months.

2-3 but I have boys. Usually a sandal, sneakers, and croc. Maybe a dress shoe. If I had girls, I'm sure they'd have more.

Usually3-4 depending on the season. Everyday/sneakers, Mary Janes for dress shoes, and water shoes in the summer (iplay/ native knock offs) and winter boots for the winter. Plus I do like to get fashion boots for the cool weather.
I don't buy ahead for shoes though, beyond the next size up. Her foot seems to grow so unpredictably it would end up costing way more than paying full price. Right now she is still roughly the same size she was at the beginning of the summer so I'm just waiting for her foot to grow a full size overnight or something!

We have to have shoes at never leave daycare, so it looks like a lot. But they're all practical play shoes. It's too wet and cold where we live to have anything fancy. DD is 3.
2 pairs of lined rain boots, 1 pair of waterproof winter sneakers, 1 pair of heavy duty snow boots that will likely not fit her when it starts to snow. All her summer sneakers, sandals and Croc boots still fit her, but it's too cold to wear those now. Currently in circulation: 3
I just checked her shoe basket to count all her sandals and it's a shockingly embarrassing amount!

DS is 14 months and we have three pairs in his current size: natives, grey converse, and some nicer navy leather shoes. For the summer he basically had the natives and a pair of see wee sandals. I have the next size up in the converse on deck only because I accidentally got him the wrong size at first. We live in the South so no need for winter boots thank goodness!

Warm weather is play sneakers, crocs, and nicer sneakers/dressier shoes. Cold weather replace crocs with snow boots.
