How many senators/representatives/politicians have you contacted lately?

    I have been calling/emailing/writing letters/or tweeting at my senators and representative every day lately concerning multiple things, including Steve Bannon on the NSC, Jeff Session, DeVos, Planned Parenthood, and divesting of Trump's business. I have also contacted Senators from other states if it seemed relevant (or to thank them for standing up!). I have heard that calls and showing up in person have the most impact, but sometimes I can't get through. It's frustrating!

    Betsy DeVos confirmed 50-50 with Pence as the tie breaker. I am not surprised, but still wanted to hold out an ounce of hope that one more republican would vote no. Of course both of my senators voted yes. Sigh.

    @Boopers: I was hoping, too.

    @Boopers: I'm not surprised, but I am extremely disappointed.

    I'm so completely disgusted with the Republicans. So spineless. They are elected to represent the people, but they are not listening to the people. Not a single person I know supported Betsy DeVos. Not ONE.

    One of my senators said his phone lines were being overwhelmed by people not from our state. I tried for 30 minutes to get through to his offices yesterday (all 8 of them) and either the voicemails were full or the lines were busy. I was finally able to leave a message at his DC office. But if his own constituents couldn't get through because of people from other states, that's unacceptable. Not that I think it would have changed his vote, but he's a vindictive rat, so I just feel like it pissed him off and made him dig in his heels even harder.

    Not surprised either but I too was hoping for a miracle...

    Not surprised at all. The one repub senator had the ability to block the nom but instead voted yes to send it to the senate.

    These folks accepted campaign contributions from DeVos. She's gone on record that she expects to be compensated for donations in the past, how does this surprise anyone? It's a sad day for children, but a reminder that this government allows people to be bought.

    I was really hoping the establishment GOP would put Trump back on his heels.

    Ugh. My senator was one of the ones on the fence for a while and he eventually caved. The wimp. I was able to leave a message at the DC office but all the others were busy or full after several attempts at each office. I heard that there's a local journalist who is doing a story on how difficult it is for people to get through to this senator and I hope he gets nailed for not listening to his constituents.

    I emailed my awesome senators about DeVos. I called about Bannon. I hate the phone.

    I call/email all my representatives every few days. I'm so sad about the DeVos vote. What I'm doing now is sending them (both Rep. who voted for her) this message every week until I get a response:

    "I am writing to request you release the tally of constituents who contacted you both in favor of and against the confirmation of Betsy DeVos. I would also like a statement from you explaining how those constituent opinions influenced your vote, given that you were elected to serve the people of the state of xxx".

    I'm so frustrated. Every vote is along party lines. You can't tell me that the constituents of my very mixed state ALWAYS support the republican position. It's all a bunch of partisan BS.
