I’ve never done it but have seen it come up on my local moms group. Seems like around $50 or half their hourly rate for sleeping hours, plus hourly for awake hours. And if they will need any expense money for awake hours for meals or activities add that on.

I did a fair amount of overnight babysitting in college. In general it was regular rate for awake hours and half rate for asleep hours - unless the LO was still waking at night and then regular rate for all hours.

Also it depended on sleeping arragements, most of the families I babysat for had an actual guest room but there were a couple where I stayed on the couch. Those families would add a little extra on.

We pay $15 for our daughter's daycare teachers who do some moonlighting since she has health problems and they know her better than anyone. We otherwise pay $12 for someone not as familiar with her. We are willing to pay the premium to have people that truly know her.

@catgirl: When you did this in college, was the early wake up an issue? I would love to have a night away with DH before LO2 comes but 1. we have never done it before and 2. don't have family local so it would need to be a sitter. For some reason I feel bad asking a college kid to wake up at 6:30 a.m.!

We pay $100 for an overnight...generally its 12-16 hours. We usually get her a tip or something too...
