I am hosting tomorrow and so far I have....cubed the butternut squash (did that last night).
I've been stuck at work all day and really want to get home to start cooking. Gah!

Turkey is thawing/brining.
I'm going to wash, cut, steam the veggies in my veggie casserole. It's green bean casserole but with broccoli and cauliflower. Then put together and bake tomorrow.
I wonder, can I cook the potatoes and sweet potatoes today and do a quick steam and mash tomorrow?

The house is clean, the pie is baked, and the dough is riding for the rolls. Everything else will happen tomorrow.

@bluestriped bee: yes, you can cook the potatoes and sweet potatoes today and do the mash tomorrow. Great prepping ahead.
All this Thanksgiving talk is making this Canadian hungry for turkey dinner!

The cornbread just came out of the oven to make the stuffing tomorrow. I'm bringing that and mac & cheese to MIL's tomorrow.

I'm thinking about making the pumpkin pie tonight. We like it better cold anyway!

I've baked cornbread for the dressing and prepped green beans. The turkey is thawing. I think that's all I'm going to do today.

I make thanksgiving dinner for a homeless veteran's shelter (so I make that entire dinner myself, but don't have to make anything for our family thanksgiving) and I'm currently cooking but have done: cornbread stuffing, 2 apple pies, 1 pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, gravy broth (from neck/giblets), and turkey is brined. About to prep all the veggies, maybe make another pumpkin pie. We'll see.

I am 100% ready. Because we are eating at a hotel this year!! The three of us just fled to Florida for one last hurrah before LO2 arrives. Nice not to have to deal with family drama and also cooking while 8 months pregnant.

It's 945 pm. I've brined the turkey, cubed squash, chopped carrots, washed China and crystal, set the table.....tomorrow I have to make stuffig, stuff the bird, peel and mash potatoes, cook the bird, carrots, squash....and shower....and pour a Mimosa and mind my children because my husband now has to operate in the morning

2 family dinners worth of cookies. And I have one Brussel sprout, pecan, cranberry side to make in the am. We don't host and have much smaller gatherings for thanksgiving than for Christmas so I don't have to work too hard. Thank goodness.

So far, I've whipped cream, thawed/brined the turkey, made dinner rolls (waiting for the dough to rise), and made from scratch barbecue baked beans (scratch baked the sauce too) that I now have to throw out because my beans didn't soften like they were supposed to.
I'm a little bitter about that. The BBQ sauce kicks butt but I don't want to serve crunchy beans to people.

@avivoca: can you toss them in a crock pot on warm or low and see if they're better by morning?

@winter_wonder: do some people like it warm?? I'm not a fan of pumpkin pie myself.
We're mid travel with our turkey. I was going to make cornbread soufflé but man, didn't feel like bringing everything . LOL

2 sweet potato pies baked and cooling. A cake of cornbread baked and cubed to stale for stuffing. Turkey breastplate brined. Gravy and cranberry sauce I purchased. Tomorrow I will make the stuffing, roast the turkey, heat the corn, make the sweet potato casserole, and the most time consuming - make mashed potatoes from scratch.

I put a couple of bottles of Chardonnay in the fridge! The pie making starts after I'm done with my coffee.

Well I put the lil smokies in the crockpot with some honey bbq mixture I made. I bought the ingredients for the pasta salad I'll be making, bought a veggie tray and tomorrow at my parents I'll make the mashed potatoes.

@MrsSRS: No, my crock pot was in service. I guess I dedn't use enough water when I was soaking? The sauce had salt in it so I'm fairly certain that's why they didn't soften more when I cooked them.

I'm just about to pull out my turkey to warm up a bit before headed to the oven. Need to truss and prep it.
Pies are made, mashed potatoes are done, cranberry sauce is set. Challah bread turned out a tad burned this year....delicate bread.

@regberadaisy: good question, I'm not sure!? I think it kind of melts any whip cream that you would too it with so my guess would be most people like it cool or cold.
