My son got accepted to a very good private school, and schooling there starts in preschool - to secure a spot through elementary. Our local schools are terrible, and my goal is to get my son into a charter, but the lotteries here are pretty stiff. We planned to try for the private school, so we have a spot for him should we not get into a charter.

Well this year they raised the tuition. Basically it's 19k for 9 months, plus we would need aftercare. It comes to 2300/month.

My son is currently in a language immersion school that is 1465/ month, but he 'says' he doesn't like it and fights me on going every day.

I don't want to do the private school, but my husband does. Financially we could swing it, but it means I won't be able to afford anything like clothes or hair cuts or ANYTHING! To me - it is JUST PRESCOOL - and spending that is insane.

We need to decide by Monday. I realize this is a jumbled post - any input would be appreciated.

Do your kids enjoy their preschools? Is their value to a fancier preschool? Aren't they all just about playing and learning social skills?
