We usually buy a fresh farm bird if we're hosting. We're not this year but did buy a frozen grocery bird for the freezer. It's 49cts / lb when you spend $25. Can't beat that for a cheap meal!
How much was your bird?

Free. Our grocery store gives them away free every year as long as you redeem their special coupon. You get a 'coupon' once in awhile if you spend a certain amount of groceries so I save them for Thanksgiving and stock up for Christmas too. http://www.foodland.com/maikai-weekly-special/weeks-maika-i-product

Waited too late to get a frozen turkey so I had to get fresh. Costco had fresh birds for $1.09/lb. I got a 17 lb bird.

We bought an 18 lbs turkey for £27 - so about $40? Just from the local supermarket, probably not farm fresh or free range or whatever.
