I don't do it often enough. I just had to clean DD2's car seat cover because it's been covered in banana for like 2 weeks! I really should be better about that!

I am gross, that's all I am gonna say about that. Well, it's not my mess, but you get the idea! It all ends up being my mess in the end!

Infant seat- when I have a new baby, so twice, once before each kid. (It was my nephews before that).
Convertible- every time she vomits all over it, so thank god, just once! I won't let her eat messy things like bananas in it. zhough so it's mostly dry crumbs caked on.

I cleaned the infant seat once or twice in the year she used it.
So far I haven't cleaned the convertible seats in the 10 months she has been using them. We don't do food or drinks in the car though so it's not very dirty.

Infant seat: once
Convertible: twice, once when she had head lice, once when she peed in the seat.

@Foodnerd81: yeah the banana was totally a lapse in judgment.

Infant seat: once in two kids, when W threw up all over it.
Convertible: never. I don't think it's dirty, though, although it could use a vacuum.

If I take it out of the car for whatever reason I usually shake it out. That is it. Well, until one got left in the back of the truck and it rained... then it got a nice wash!

I still haven't yet, but I need to! I have sun screen marks all over it from this summer! but....I figure it doesn't stink, and it's not hurting her....soo.....LOL

More than I'd like - poop explosions always seem to happen in the car seat....

Only with puke or an accident. In four years I've cleaned it 4 or 5 times. Besides crumbs there's never been any other food I don't think.

Oh this thread makes me feel good. I thought I was the only one who only cleaned for vomit, etc.

We cleaned one of our convertibles today because of puke. The car seat smelled so bad. After a wash and dry, it's normal again.

Only after vomit episodes. We don't allow eating in the car, so it stays pretty clean.

I wipe them down if they get dirt on them and vacuum crumbs every once in a while but I've never washed them.... They have a special coating in the fabric though.
The baby seat got washed after a big spit up and before I moved it to storage.

I've never cleaned DD's infant seat (other than wiping it down occasionally) She's about to outgrow it so I'll really clean it then.

Only when poop or vomit make it necessary. I've cleaned DD's cover once in the 5 months she's been using the seat. It's a pain. I never cleaned the infant seat.
