What is your expectation for kids under 4?
Today LO had two accidents, they hadn't taken him to the potty in 2.5 hours (and he wasn't napping during that time) and 1.5 hours.

My son's daycare has them go about once every hour. She said she is very consistent and regular with timing and just having everyone go at the same time. It's really eliminated accidents with my son! I love that she is good about a schedule like that.

How old is your LO and how long has he been trained? I think that makes a difference. I think in our center's Toddler class, if PT'ing, go every 45-1hr, whereas the Jr and regular Preschool classes stretch it out a bit more and try to train the kids to listen to their own bodies and speak up when they actaully need to go, meaning less timed interval breaks.. As far as I know, by age 3 all the kids are trained and just go when they need to, but they encourage them to go during transitions (before playing outside, before meals/snacks, before center time, etc).

Definitely not more frequently than once an hour. I think once an hour or hour and a half is good. My LO usually goes every hour and a half (except for nap time she goes longer) according to her daily sheets. I know some of that is self-initiated though.

DD often doesn't go at all during the four hours she's at school. They take them twice but she doesn't always have to go.

They take her every 1.5-2 hours now. Most of the time she tells them she needs to go.

They prompted her every 30 minutes when potty training in the twos class. Her keeping her diaper dry then helped us feel confident jumping to undies! They eventually spaced it back out.

@mauxie: same. Right at potty training I expect every 30 minutes. Right after, every hour. And that's pretty much what the toddler room did.
Now that she's in the preschool room they probably go four times in the time she's at sxhool?

I'm a preschool teacher and we go as a class roughly every hour-1.5 hours, but if a kid says they have to go potty (which is frequent!) we'll go as a whole class then too and I'll encourage others to go then as well (though inevitably there are times when one swears they don't have to go and asks to go again in 15 minutes! Luckily we're the closest classroom to the bathroom...)

Same as @mauxie. In the beginning his main teacher would take him every 30 minutes. Unfortunately the teachers later in the day did not and that is when he had accidents. It took about a month for him to not have accidents every day and it took a few months before he self initiated. Even now we still have times where he is dancing around and I have to ask him to go potty. He just doesn't want to stop playing!
Honestly, if you are stressed about it and frustrated he will probably pick up on it. That's what happened with us and I finally just told myself accidents are going to happen I need to stop stressing, he will get it eventually. We just stocked up on underwear and shorts it wasn't long before he started to get it and I wasn't doing a daily load of laundry.

When he needs to go he tells them. At home he goes about every couple of hours.

It depends on where the kids are in the training process. After they're trained, then they usually wait for the kids to say something.

Under 4 is a huge range. My LO is almost 3 and they no longer prompt the kids in her class. They all self initiate. When she was closer to 2 they took them every 90 minutes or so.

My son is 4.5 years old and when he's having issues they have taken him as often as every 20 min. He's been trained for years but the second week of school here he had three accidents in one day. It's a lot of change for a little guy and he is a stress pee-er (way better than a revenge pee-er). Now things have settled his only accidents are at nap time.

My LO is 3 and potty trained but often will not ask to go if he in not familiar with the caregivers. When I told his preschool teacher she said she would ask or take him ever 45 minutes and he has not had a single accident there.
