I'm curious...
My accupunturist says she can do treatments after you give birth and can help with any stress.
I'm wondering how soon after giving birth, I'll be up to leave the house... And without the baby!

For Lo #1 is was like a month and a half! With lo#2 it was like two weeks and it was to the grocery store!

With LO1 it was around a week, and I nearly passed out in target from the pain. Seriously overestimated what I could do. With LO2, probably a day or two after I was home from hospital.

The day we brought him home we all went out together. I didn't go out alone for 2 weeks because I couldn't drive post c-section.

LO1 - two weeks
LO2 - two days
But my deliveries were vastly different. Second one was a breeze so recovery was much easier as well.

2-3 days. We had ppl over for dinner the night I got home from the hospital. The next day, my mom and I went for a pedicure (to be fair, there is a nail salon right below my condo on street level) and that first weekend, I went for a movie while my mom was still there and could babysit.
I also went grocery shopping without LO a lot...she didn't really go out and about for almost a month, because my Ped is south Asian (and so is my husband) and they are both very against babies going in public before 1 month.
All these trips, even the movie were 2 hours or less. The movie heater is 1 block from my house, so I just walked over right as it was starting and right home afterward.
It was the last movie I saw for almost a year, so I was glad I did it! I would go to the appt.

I had a May baby, so we were able to get out pretty early. It did wear me out, though, and even simple movement was painful.
Eta: oops, you said without baby! Probably a couple of weeks?

I think I came across a receipt from when I went to Target alone around a week PP. There were definitely painkillers involved, but I also had a pretty uncomplicated birth. With LO, we went to the farmers market on the weekend for the first few months.

I guess everyone's recovery is different but I would have been up to going out right away. I didn't, because I had no reason to leave LO...but I would for something like that.

I went out to Target 4 days PP by myself. Driving definitely felt different and it took me a second to get accustomed to it but other than that, I was fine. I was a bit slower but no pain. I had a very uncomplicated (but long) labor.

I went for a mani/pedi when DD was one and a half weeks old. Left her with DH with enough pumped milk to feed her should she get hungry. I was only gone for like 2 hours but I was so nervous. Everything turned out fine of course.

With my first I went to the store the day I was released and almost passed out in the store waiting for my prescriptions. I wasn't supposed to walk around much after having her since I tore a blood vessel.
With my second I waited two weeks. Much better.

DH and I got out of the house for a few minutes to pick up take out maybe 2 weeks after birth. The 2 main problems are finding time in between feedings, and walking is tough for a while after delivery.

maybe 2 weeks? Just to the grocery store so I was back in time to nurse again.

About a week after - my MIL came over and my husband and I had a day date at the movies

I think 4 weeks was the first time. Went to dinner with friends. I was in pain still though

I left to pick up a prescription the day after we got home. I went to an ob appt at three weeks.

Around a month, I think... I went to Kohl's to buy come new clothes and left LO with my husband. I'm really glad I did that as soon as I did. I think it made it easier in the long run that I first left her while she was still so easy (eat, sleep, poop)!

6 weeks. I went and got my hair cut and was gone three hours exactly (the time between his nursing). DS just screamed and screamed and the boob was all that comforted him. It took that long for DH and I to work up the courage, but it all went fine.

When you're breastfeeding it's really hard to leave the house for any sizeable amt of time alone unless you have a good breastmilk stash. I can't even remember when I went out by myself without baby - I honestly think it was months later when I finally went to get a pedicure. With baby, I did leave the house to go to Target in the second week (with help from my mom since I couldn't drive post c-section). Going with baby is much easier!

@bluestriped bee: My mom and I went to Target at 2.5 weeks pp. I was anxious, but it was ok.

@bluestriped bee: WITH the baby we went out to dinner the day after we came home from the hospital. I cannot stress enough to new moms how much it makes a difference to get out of the house and do something normal! They are sooo tired at that point (and love the ambient noise of restaurants) that you may as well get out while you still can without having to pay for a baby-sitter! He's 11 weeks old tomorrow and we just went out to dinner tonight with him in the car seat. I know our days are numbered in which we can do this, and we've thoroughly enjoyed many meals out so far .
Without the baby I went to Target when we'd been home for 2 days? My mom had to drive me because of the C-section, but I left him with my husband and dad. The first time I drove myself and took the baby was 10 days PP to a breastfeeding support group. A few days later I went to my two-week PP incision check with my OB, and then went to the grocery store, too. Again, anything that felt "normal" to me from my pre-baby life when so much was new and crazy in those first few weeks was very helpful.

Can't remember with my first. Second was 3 days and it was grocery shopping with SO (mom was looking after the boys & had formula if he got hungry).
Felt SO nice to wander around without being in pain (I had so much pelvic pressure the last month that being on my feet for more than 30 minutes was excruciating) or wrangling a toddler.

Several weeks!? I think I went for a massage at 6 or 8 weeks PP. I remember being so scared of wetting the table with my leaky boobs!
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
Around 1 month, I think, I went for a quick walk (like 10-15 mins) with a couple friends, and around 6 weeks I went to a drs appointment

A couple days. I can't remember exactly with my first. But I do remember that after my second, I went black friday shopping 3 days after she was born.

He's only 13 months and I really cannot remember! I know it was far too long though. He had terrible colic and literally never stopped crying, and I felt that as his mother I should not leave him when he was upset - which equated to never leaving his side (not that he was any calmer for me than anyone else). It was not the right thing to do and I almost sent myself insane with the intensity of it. Next time will be different!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
I don't quite remember with my first. Definitely at 12weeks when I went to work.
With #2 at a week I left her with DH to go on an outing with my mom and LO1.
persimmon / 1367 posts
By myself, I went to a quick dinner with my best friend for an hour at 8 days pp. Physically I was fine, but emotionally I was a bit of a mess.

I think around a week for us! Wishing you an amazing FET today ! Come on BFP!

I started doing short trips out (30 minutes or so) to the supermarket etc at about ten days pp and I think I started to get out for haircuts etc at around 2-3 months.

Within a few days...My LO had to be readmitted to the hospital 4 days PP due to really high bilirubin. I popped out while my husband was with her to run to target to get some big panties/boyshorts lol. My PP bleeding was a surprise to me, I hadn't realized how big of pads you need and I had loved those big hospital panties for holding the ginormous pads. So while DD1 was in the hospital, I had to go out and get big panties and more big ol' pads:)
I didn't tear or get an episiotomy - I just had tons of perennial massage during my lengthy labor and only got minor internal scrapes - so I pretty much felt fine as soon as my epidural wore off and I could stand again. Just needed some big panties, lol. And of course urinating was only done with the bottle because that burned. But was fine for any other physical activity.

The next day. We don't have a car and no family to help, so I had to go to the grocery store and things like that right away.

We were in the nicu for a week. When we got home I was so stir crazy, I needed to get out so I went to the grocery store , lol. Dh stayed home with the baby.

A couple days? I went go the grocery store right after nursing her to get out of the house for a bit! She slept the whole time I was gone. I would say go to the appt!
pomegranate / 3355 posts
I went out 5 days after. I went to the store with my mom. It was fine but it drained me. I was tired and achy when I got home. We were there for probably 30-45 mins.
