Does anyone else get those cracks on your fingers in the winter that don't heal? I usually don't get them until at least December, but they've started already. I have eczema on my hands so I've been using steroid cream, but it isn't working.
Any tips or products you use to get them to close up quickly? I've heard you can use super glue - does that really work?

I get them around my mouth due to a vitamin deficiency...not really the same but I use aquaphor at night

@JMOM: my dh gets those too. He uses superglue just so they don't split open at work. I'm not really sure what to do about the healing part though

Ok- this sounds so bizarre. An MD I work with told me this; and I swear by it! A&D ointment.. Put on hands, heels, etc and cover with socks or gloves.. If I put it on my hands I glove up for like 2 hours. Too hot to sleep with them on

@JMOM: I get them on my feet--it is really dry here--and I swear by super glue! It is messy to put on and doesn't look great but it provides enough of a barrier to let the skin heal. Make sure you get the kind that says "bonds skin instantly"!

@winter_wonder: @MamaCate: If you use superglue, do you have to wear a bandaid? I am wearing one now to keep the sides together - if that makes sense. But, as soon as I take it off, it opens back up again.

@mrs bunchy: Is that diaper cream? I use lanolin a lot, it is awesome on my daughter's dry hands. I put it on before bed and there is a noticeable difference in the morning.

@blackbird: I get them around my mouth and it turned out to be a yeast infection because I wear a night mouthguard and saliva collects in the corners of my mouth. Disgusting, but an antibiotic cream clears it up when it cracks. And those suckers hurt too!
@JMOM: I get cracks every winter on my hands, and I coat them in aquaphor before bed and put on gloves. It helps a lot!

His hands Crack and bleed all winter long.

I've been using bag balm on mine. Heals up super quick but it's ultra greasy!

I use Eucerin for extreme winter hands (the super thick cream in the tub, not the lotion) - it's greasy and doesn't spread well, but it works great.

my hands are awful. I find the only thing that works for me is putting on lotion EVERY single time I wash my hands (which feels like alll the time with a baby) and then more lotion before bed.

@Tanjowen: gah that sounds awful!!!! Check into a vitamin b level too! My body doesn't absorb it, so I get chelitis. Haaaate it

I've tried lanolin and A-derma cream and they've worked somewhat well for me.

I've never tried it but I've heard good things about a putting on a really rich hand lotion and a pair of cotton or silk gloves on top for the night.
