My sister and BIL moved into their new house last year and they are expecting their first baby and are nesting like crazy. They have built a deck and repainted their entire house in the last 3 months. Now they want every space decorated before the baby comes in late November. They are really struggling with this wall and I’m not sure what to do about it either. Any suggestions?

Tell us more about the space. What other rooms have this wall as their view? What’s their style?

This is their living room. My sister likes a “Sonoma rustic” style and her husband likes more modern. He just bought that sound wave painting this weekend. She’s not a huge fan of it.

@peaches1038: I'd suggest that they mount the TV on the wall as part of baby proofing, so am going to keep that in mind when looking at the wall. They also don't want TOO much on that wall, because it could be overwhelming when the TV is on.

I would mount the TV and I wouldn't put anything else on the wall. I would center the console under the TV so that it was more even on both sides. I would probably put a large plant/tree on the left toward the window/slider (unless it was in the way).

@peaches1038: agree @nutmeg36: mount the TV and if they aren’t married to that TV counsel, I’d suggest floating something under that fits his contemporary taste or better yet a bigger and taller console that is inline with the Oriental rug. The TV is off- centered, to balance the wall symmetry I suggest a floor plant.
I’m thinking wallpaper is the best option behind the TV. A small print or texture that blends color wise with the wall, but provides interest. Then, new art above the fireplace that is more Sonoma Rustic like a lanscape. Target has a couple that would fit.
Does the Soundwave art have to stay?

I like all of @psw27: suggestions- mount the TV, add a fake tree or plant near the window with some height to it. I like that console actually. I can see how the sound wave art doesn’t really go with everything else, but I guess life is a compromise...

Thanks all!! I think I convinced her to move the sound wave art to his office or to what will be the playroom. They are going to mount the tv too! I appreciate all your input!

I agree with mounting the TV, but I think that the wall may still feel a little bare. I would add pictures in black frames down the right side of the wall.
