So, I just got an email from LO's daycare (LO is 20 months old), that said that during the summer, they will offer ice cream to all the kids on Friday afternoons from June through August. Upon clarification with the school, apparently for toddlers they give them those little vanilla ice cream cups (like the ones you used to get at school).

I would really rather LO not have ice cream (we don't give him that stuff at home yet). He is thrilled to have fruit, yogurt, or a graham cracker. I don't know how much of a stink to make. We can opt out, but I don't want him to be the only one who doesn't get ice cream. I just don't understand why the daycare has to give ice cream to toddlers. Why not do a special water play day outside or something to celebrate summer? Why does it have to be food related? It makes me crazy

So what would you do? Just let the kid have the ice cream once a week and not worry about it? I guess that's what I'm leaning towards. I'm more just frustrated that the special activity has to be food related.
