My mil was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is about to undergo her second chemo treatment. I want to send her a mini care package and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for things to incude. This is the first person close to me who has gone through something like this, so I am sorta at a loss. I am only wanting to spend about $20, so probably no gift cards. Any ideas?

Can you get her a shawl, a neck pillow, or a soft fuzzy blanket that she can take to her to chemo treatments? A lot of times, chemo patients have hot and cold flashes from their treatments and hospitals tend to be cold, so having something soft and cozy to curl up with can be comforting. If she's sitting in a chair for her chemo treatments, a nice neck pillow might be comfortable.

I second the above comfy stuff, and also suggest puzzle books (crosswords, word searches, brainteaser type things) and/or magazines or a paperback to pass the time. When a good friend of mine was going through chemo he loved bringing treats to share with nurses and other patients (like a big tub of brownies or something) - so candy or other junk food, while she might not be up for eating them at the moment, are a good addition even for sharing purposes. The camaraderie with staff was a big help for him.

I love the suggestions of warm and cosy stuff. I would also suggest a book, or it she doesn't have a tablet, maybe lend her one with movies to her taste on it. I have heard the chemo chair can be very boring and she might welcome something to take her mind off it. If she suffers nausea from the chemo, maybe some ginger candies or something to help her with that? I hope her treatment goes well

My mom recently went through chemo and she loved cozy socks. She also always brought a warm blanket, hat, and electric hand warmer from Walgreens.

Nail polish, hand cream, Chapstick, nice water bottle, book, magazines, nice/fun bag to schlep stuff to chemo, bright scarves, dangly earrings. These are some things that my mom, grandma, and aunt appreciated during cancer treatment.

Nice moisturizing lotions (maybe very lightly scented), lip balm, hard candies (like Preggie pops or similar), a hat or something similarly cozy. Maybe fingerless gloves (in case the infusion center is cold? Mmmm...homemade ginger snaps or other delicious cooked treats. Freezer meals would also be amazing, unless someone already has that tacked down.

we got some healthyish snacks and a bottle of lemon flavored liquid stevia (she gave up soda and artificial sweeteners), some hand sanitizer in her favorite scent from bath and body, some hand lotion (unscented), and a prdicure kit with a foot massager, scrubs, etc. She had lots of blankets and such already, and she uses her ipad to read and play games.
