Ours would have been much, much higher if we had continued treatment. We quit just before our re started pushing the higher dollar medicines and procedures.

We elected to have IF coverage through our insurer. It covers diagnostic testing and appointments, as well as bloodwork and ultrasound. everything is subject to the deductible and coinsurance.

We pay $8,000/yr for insurance. His employer pays the rest. For comparisons sake, we could get insurance for $250/mo if we dropped plans and didn't include IF coverage.

We've had this insurance since 2009. That's a tough pill to swallow when I start adding up numbers..

At the top of my head, I paid $800 out of pocket for an HSG and have paid a few hundred for ultrasounds and blood work (deductible/co-insurance). I paid $20 for each clomid script (5 of them) and by miracle, insurance covered my progesterone suppositories. I paid around $100 for two trigger shots.

IUI was covered for us but ivf is not.

Oh, I didn't mention acupuncture.. That's $65/ treatment. Plus I've spent quite a bit on OPKs and pregnancy tests.

I voted 1-2k, but that's a guess. Considering how many rounds of treatments I've done, that's extremely low, and I'm very grateful. IUIs cost me about $150 in meds each plus a $20 co-pay (x4) and IVF cost me about $125 in meds each plus a $20 co-pay (x2), so that's about $1k, plus all the dr.'s appointment co-pays over the 2 years, OPKs, HPTs, blah blah blah. And nothing to show for it

Even with 80% covered, we paid I'm guessing lil over 5K. With ivf meds, ivf, iuis, hsg, clomid, ovidrel, all the co-pays.

I want to elaborate on my post above. Our insurance covers diagnostic testing but not treatments. I live in a mandated state, and I'm still not sure how our insurance company got around it.

I forgot to add the money we spent in 2012 on two IUIs and the copay for DH's varicocele surgery. That was another $900.

One thing we didn't want to do was go into debt to pay for treatments. We've spaced our treatments out so that we could pay cash each time. I feel very fortunate that we've been able to do that.

Over 40k so far ugh. My insurance excludes infertility. Several thousand on diagnostics and pre-treatment testing, about 2000 on each IUI cycle, 22k for IVF, 3-4k per IVF cycle for meds, plus acupuncture and other random stuff.

We are jist beginning treatment and I'm with a not for profit organisation so so far just £1000.

i don't know exactly, i've never added it up. about $3000-4000 on acupuncture & herbs, a few hundred on labs with our old crap ins, a $50 copay with our amazing ins, copays for meds, plus all the different vitamins, pee sticks, preseed, books, CBEFM & sticks for it, even the time off and gas to go to all the appointments which are a distance add up. probably a little over $5,000 and we haven't started most of our traditional treatments yet.

We were so so lucky to have everything covered by insurance. We only did one IUI plus meds (and all the diagnostic tests leading up to it plus acupuncture) but I doubt we paid even $500. I know if we had needed IVF, we would have been covered up to 10k through insurance, so that would have been useful as well.

Oh man, I haven't added this up, but it's a lot. We don't have IF insurance coverage, but we did get testing covered and my lap mainly covered as well.

I'm definitely appreciative of my IF coverage with my $10 copay for all visits & $5 copay for all meds. Blood work, X-rays/ultrasounds are all covered thankfully, otherwise I'd have a larger bill with all the blood they take from me each month. My larger costs so far have been from purchasing TTC books, preseed, prenatal vitamins, HPTs (FRER, Clear Blue, CVS brand, Wandfos), & OPKs. I'm hoping that with more women sharing about their experiences with IF, there will be a shift of at least allowing some OBs to do preliminary diagnostic work as part of the annual woman's check. Or even better, if IF was covered for everyone. Right now, I'm probably at the cusp of spending $250 over the past year.

@Mrs. Pinata: I'm in MA, land of amazing healthcare for all I do wish ins covered more natural approaches, we could of saved a LOT by just going straight to an RE, but I wanted to exhaust other methods first.

I have no idea how much my HSG was, but I did two unmonitored Clomid rounds at $40-ish a pop, two cancelled IUIs ($75 for meds, $250 for the ultrasounds total for the two IUIs), three IUIs ($400 each), one IVF cycle ($18,000 plus about $400 for meds), and one FET ($5,000, and about $75 for meds). On top of that, parking for each appointment was $5... and I had lots. So.... $25,000 minimum. No insurance coverage for us, unfortunately, but we do have very generous family members that helped us out.

@Mrs. Pinata: I'm in CA but not everyone has full coverage. I've heard of acquaintances who are unable to go to fertility specialists because their insurance doesn't cover any IF related testing or services. My trade off is better healthcare for less pay, which I'm fine with.

@Mrs. Pinata: I think I said this once before on another thread, but I feel like someone should make the case to the government (or to ins companies) about the medical costs incurred by people who transfer 2+ embryos as a Hail Mary since they can't afford multiple IVF cycles OOP and wind up with higher order multiples. Between the high risk pregnancy, possible in hospital bed rest, then NICU time and potential long term health care costs of preemies, I bet it could be cheaper for them to just cover IF treatments so that women can make choices based on what's best for them, and not based on what they can afford. I do have great IF coverage, but it makes me so furious that it's not federally mandated.

@Shutterbug: @Mrs. Pinata: didn't the Gosselins conceive their multiples through IUI though? I believe IUI is responsible for more higher order multiples than IVF at this point...not sure where I heard that though.

Did anyone else get the email from RESOLVE mentioning that because of the ACA, infertility coverage may be going away in some states with a mandate? (Specifically states like NJ, MA, MD, etc.)
