...when did he/she arrive? LO1 was born at 39w2d, and I had expected LO2 to arrive then or even earlier. I"m at 39w4d and just waiting! I was at 3 almost 4cm at 39w1d...and still nothing!

The waiting game... hugs to you!
My kids all came later compared to my first. LO1 was 11 days early, LO2 was 2 days early, and LO3 was 1 day late.
Each time I would think, "This baby should be here by now...this is the longest I've ever been pregnant!" Hang in there!

@hilsy85: it was the worst! LO#1 came at 38w3d, and LO#2 came at 41w1d after an induction. I went off work at 37 weeks so I could have a week at home, and I ended up with a month of nothing to do but waiting. I thought I was going to lose my mind.

@SAHM0811: it is the worst! and my OB made it even worse by telling me she was sure I would go early.
@Rockies11: omg that is AWFUL!!! I am kind of steeling myself for an induction at 41 weeks so if it is earlier, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

No advice, but I'm thinking of you! Already at almost 4, at least you know labor should go by quickly! you are almost 1/2 way there

@LuLu Mom: ha true! hopefully labor itself, whenever it starts, will be quick.

My first one came at 30 and 6 so when I hit "full term" at 37 weeks we breathed a sigh of relief and started waiting...until at 40 and 3, and knowing I was dilated, I got tired of the BHs and took some castor oil

I was the same way - DD1 came at 39+1 so I thought DD2 would be here even earlier...nope! She was born at 40+2. The good news is when she decided to come she came fast and furious...4 hours of labor compared to 32 with DD1

He would have stayed put until the cows came home. I ended up with a repeat c-section at 41+3, no contractions or Braxton Hicks or anything. I never even dropped.

My first came at 34 weeks and second at 37 weeks. No help in your situation, my kids don't like staying in the womb. Lol

@Charm54: eek! that scare me a little too--labor with LO1 was only 9 hours, so I really really want to make sure I get to the hospital in time!!
@travelgirl1: oh man, that is a long time to wait! I am going to push for an induction at like 40w6d, as soon as my OB would do it.

@hilsy85: I did a generous tablespoon of castor oil shaken into 4 oz cold orange juice at 6pm, then again at 8 and at 10. Total I consumed less than half of a little bottle. Because it was a low dose spread out I made a few extra bathroom trips and had some mild cramping but wasn't really ill (had no trouble managing my toddler's bedtime). I went to bed around midnight and woke up at 2 in lovely, timeable, consistent labor!

LO1 was born at 38w 4d and LO2 was born at 39w 1d. I was technically higher risk because of GD and doctors wanted to induce me at 39. I convinced my doctor to wait until 40 since I was having a healthy pregnancy and controlled by GD from 18 weeks on. I did want him to cook a little longer since there were concerns for low birth weight. LO2 was heavier than LO1.

@hilsy85: Yeah sometimes they need a bit of help to be evicted I actually had a c-section date booked for 40+6 if he hadn't arrived naturally. I waited at the hospital, starving, all day, only to be sent home and rebooked for four days later as they were too busy. I hadn't minded being overdue until then but oh my gosh, those four days were hell on earth. I hope your sweet girl comes soon!

@yin: that's another concern, I am scared of birthing a 9lb baby! Lo1 was 7lbs11oz...
@travelgirl1: oh that is torturous!!

WAH! This thread is scaring me. I went to 40+4 with DS1. I do NOT want to go longer with this one. Especially since this pregnancy sucks! Good luck! I hope you go into labor any minute!

@travellingbee: ha thank you! I will send you early labor vibes when it is your turn

Dd-37w5d ds-38w. Pretty close. But for my son, I had a short cervix the entire time so we thought he was coming early. Thankfully not but that last week or two felt so long. Just bc I was so sure he was coming out early!

First was born at 31w2d. LO2 was born at 31w6d. The days between we're by far the hardest.

My first came at 30w5d and my second 40w5d....I know, HUGE difference. Those last ten weeks for the second one seemed so long! But of course I was thankful she stayed in there longer than her sister!

Lo1 came 2 days early. #2 was scheduled for induction at 40weeks.

@travellingbee: Ha! Yes. I went to 40+4 with my first and thought there was no way I'd go later with my second. Yeah, no. I was induced at 42 weeks with her - well, just shy right at 40+13. I was shocked.

@hilsy85: Dd2 was almost 2 lbs heavier than C...but came out soooooo much easier. 2 painless pushes. So don't worry about that 9 pounder

@coopsmama: aaggghh nooo....@Tidybee: ha ok, I am going to blame you if I end up with a millionth degree tear from a huge baby!

Lo1 came at 39 weeks and lo2 was still baking at 40&3 when I decided to let my midwife place some prostaglandin gel. I was soooooo finished waiting
squash / 13764 posts
@yellowbird: I didn't know they could do that!! Maybe I will ask my OB about it...although I feel like she would have mentioned it if it were an option.
honeydew / 7303 posts
@hilsy85: well, they didn't think it would work and it's technically only for ripening the cervix but it sent me straight into labor, seriously, immediately!

My friends boys were both born right at 37 weeks. Her third (first girl) was born at 41 weeks after an induction!
Good luck!!

@hilsy85: if it makes you feel an better my OB did a sweep at 40+1 and said I was 4-5cm and "a ticking timebomb" who would "fly into labour" but joke was on her and I didn't go into labour until 40+5 and Felix still took all day to get out! The OB later had the audacity to tell me that I took my time while she was stitching me up...
Hang in there!!
squash / 13764 posts
@Kemma: ha not sure if that makes me feel better or worse...! At 5 cm I think I wojld beg to be induced!

My poor bff had her first at 38w1d, her second arrived at 41w6d just right hours before his induction.
That whole last month was pretty miserable for her.
Hoping baby sister arrives soon for you!

With DD1, my water broke at 39+4 and she was born at 39+5. DD2 came a week later at 40+5. She was only 2 oz heavier though, if that helps!
My OB started talking induction for pregnancy-induced hypertension at my 36 week appointment and saying how she really wanted me to make it to 38 weeks. The last month then felt SO LONG.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Jess1483: wait, both your LO's were born at 31 weeks and you thought the 4 days longer were really hard?
honeydew / 7235 posts
@hilsy85: well, I think you know my story for #2 and it's probably not helpful. 10 days over, went in for my induction but was basically already in labor so needed very little intervention. At my last U.S. They thought the baby was 8.5 and he turned out to be 9.6!
