LO goes to preschool/Mom's Day Out two days per week. They have a summer program and she will go to that as well, because we need childcare so I can work part-time. Just curious who send their LOs for educational/socialization purposes rather than childcare do.

I'll be keeping LO home with me this summer a) to save $$$ and b) my mom takes her one day a week so I will still get a "me" day. I'm fortunate I'm able to pull her out in the summer and they will save a spot for me in the fall.
I'm definitely the minority though. Almost every other family at our daycare has at least one teacher parent and most of them drop to part time and continue going in the summer. I think it's just DD and one other little girl who stay home all summer

LO will be going to a church based preschool that is closed during the summer, so I will try to find other fun things for us/him to do instead. By that point he will be 3.5 and we have several options for stuff through parks and rec, or he can play with other kids in the gym nursery.

When I taught at other places (right now, I'm at a public pre-k, so it's a regular school schedule), it was about half and half. Some teachers left their kids in, but maybe dropped to part-time, and some took them out for the summer.
DH and I are both teachers, so our kids will stay home with us during the summers.

DH is a teacher. LO stayed home with him last summer. We have a nanny share now and will probably send her to the preschool (she starts in Sept.) summer camp next summer. It's not a full day, so she'll spend some time with DH after camp.
We don't know that we'll put her in summer camp every year though.

We'll be doing summer camps so they can do sports like swimming, tennis, sailing etc.

My son isn't starting preschool until the fall, but I enrolled him in a summer camp that his preschool is hosting to help him get used to the facility, teachers and being away from me. The summer camp sounds like it will be a lot of fun, so I think he will enjoy going there.

I was just relieved to find out that we can indeed pull my daughter from DC for the summer and they'll hold our spot (just have to pay half month tuition for Sept to do so). She goes near my school 35 minutes from home so there is no way she could go in the summer even if I wanted her to! That said, I am totally happy to take her out and even happier about the money savings!!
That being said, we hope to switch her to a new daycare/preschool in our hometown eventually (on long wait list) and I know there we can only drop down to 2 days a week during the summer.

DS's school runs only through the school year, but they offer summer camp. We enroll him in the weeks where I'm still teaching and he is already out. Also, they have a pick and choose program that we enroll him in. Basically, you get five days and can use them whenever. Last summer, we got two of them and he went sporadically when we were in town. I like to have me time, and this way I can.

Yes, I am having both of mine attend the summer programming available at their school-year care. We have no local family and DH works long/inflexible hours, so it's the only chance I get during the week for appointments or other solo time.
ETA: it's not full-time. Just mornings, 3 days/week in June and July.

Funny that I posted this a year ago and now I SAH! LO is not in preschool now but she will go in the fall. This summer I think she is going to do a dance camp (3 hrs a day for a week) and maybe VBS. We don't need the childcare but I think it will be fun for her and get her used to being away from me more.

Yes! He goes 2 days a week all year long.

She's always stayed home with me in the summer and we do summer classes like ballet or gymnastics. This summer she will be 4 and we may put her in a few summer camps - we can sign up per week and each week is a different theme (little chefs, dinosaurs, etc)

This summer DD will go to her sitters here and there, she still collects payment over the summer and now being pregnant, I need a day here and there!
So yeah she will be going I'm sure 2-3 days a week

She goes 2 days a week to a 2-year olds preschool program and yes, it does go through this summer. But when she starts regular preschool (3s and 4s) in the fall, she will not go in the summer. I'll have to find some other activities for her for sure.

We're both college professors; we don't teach over the summer but we have other work that we have to do. Our kids will go 3 days a week for the summer.

LO goes to church based preschool and they have Summer's off. They do have a weekly summer camp and usually I sign her up for one week. It gets her out of the house and me some free time. The week I plan to send her, I have major things needed to get done for my weekend job so it works out well.

I SAH and no preschool during the summer. We are so busy with fun stuff that I can't even imagine having time for school. Like we visit family for weeks at a time and have swimming lessons and trips to the beach, lots of playground and splash park time, etc. With naps thrown in I feel like we couldn't do half of it with school.
