Do you still give the gift?
Something came up and we are going to have to miss two birthday parties that we were supposed to go. I'm planning on still giving the gifts, but I was wondering what others have done/would do.

Depends on how close I am to them, honestly. If I bought a specific gift for that kiddo, I would still give the gift. If it was a generic gift and I'm not that close to them, or if i hadn't already gotten a gift, I wouldn't.

I still send a gift because most often the gift is already purchased and wrapped by the time I have to back out of the bday party.

Yes definitely. If I am close to the parents, I will give a gift even if we had told them from the beginning we couldn't go to the party.

@Applesandbananas: one of them goes to daycare with my older LO. The other is one of my DH's coworker's kids, I've never met the coworker or the kid, but DH wants to give the gift anyway since we already said we would go. I'm fine with that.

Yes, I would still gift since I would probably have the gift wrapped and ready anyway!

I would. This happened last year when my morning sickness was too bad to go and we sent the gift with another guest.

I would if we saw them regularly and it was easy to get the gift to them. Otherwise I would apologize and stick the gift in the closet for another birthday party
