hahah I also do not use delivery service like Takeout Taxi. We very rarely pay for delivery because not a lot of great options! Most delivery places are (crap) Chinese and pizza/sub places or larger restaurants that do pizza/subs/italian, etc.

Usually DH goes to grab takeout.

When we get delivery it's from local places that deliver for free. Thai, Chinese, Mexican and Italian are our go to. We don't get pizza delivery unless we have a bunch of people over for a game or something.

Most of the time when we want to do a takeout night, we'll call in the order and then go pick it up. We do sometimes get Chinese delivered, and sometimes pizza. We LOVE takeout though - Indian, sushi, really good Mexican, pizza, Thai...

I'm too cheap for delivery, but once in awhile, we do get it delivered. Otherwise, I have DH go out and pick it up or any other food we want to eat in with.

Pizza is the only thing we get delivered and then we usually go and pick up from a local place verses ordering from a chain.

We never get pizza or anything else delivered but the one exception is we always get jimmy johns delivered. Like a couple times a month. I think we do jimmy johns because it's so fast. Everything else is way too long of a wait.

We live in the suburbs where there is NO delivery. Literally, NO delivery.

Before we moved here, there was a great independent delivery service similar to the one you described. It was like $3 for the delivery fee and they also suggested that you tip the driver like normal – I usually tipped him a couple bucks extra. They would get you food from all sorts of really good places: good pizza (not crap chains), Chinese, sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, BBQ/soul food, Italian, noodle house, soup house, etc. They picked up from more than 30 restaurants; and then of course there were additional restaurants that offered their own in-house delivery service.

I don’t mind paying for delivery; the convenience just wins sometimes. Although no anymore, since we don’t have that option haha

We both love to cook, and in a typical week we cook dinner from scratch 4 nights, get takeout (usually sushi) 1 night – the weekends are a total mixed bag.

The only food we have delivered is pizza and Thai. Everything else we do pick-up. Usually DH will pick-up and that will be Mexican, Thai, brick-oven pizza. When I pick-up (near my job) it's usually burgers, Indian, or Mexican.

In order to find new delivery places we'll try the service, Seamless Web. We have options, but we don't love all of them. That said, we can get a lot delivered to us. We usually order out on a Friday night.

My only issue with some delivery services is that by the time you get your food, it's cold. When we lived in the city, I would only use the delivery services for places where the food would reheat well. Now the only place that we have deliver to us is pizza. Otherwise, we'll pick it up.

We don't have any delivery services here that I'm aware of. We do take out.

Our goal is to cook at least 6 nights a week, but that's hit or miss.

Pizza is the only thing we get delivered. If we want something else (healthier!) we just run out and get it. We live near a good array of food!

We only ever get pizza delivered because that's really the only restaurant that will deliver in my town.

I just found out a Vietnamese place will deliver to my office, though, so that's exciting!

I used to do the whole delivery food service thing in college but the prices are just CRAZY. They often will add a little more to each menu price item and then they will tack on a delivery fee. Not sure if yours does the same or if the ones I used just took advantage of college students, but I couldn't believe the difference once I actually started paying attention! Plus, you're right, the wait times are RIDICULOUS and they are often right on. They say 90 minutes? See you at the end of this movie. I would rather just phone in the order and have DH or myself go pick it up. At least I know it will be as hot as possible and there is no delivery/tip to worry about.

We're in NY so almost everyone delivers. We usually choose to walk to pick up takeout (sushi, Mexican, burgers, Chinese) but for places that are a bit farther we do order delivery without hesitation (Indian, Thai). We are pretty reckless with money, unfortunately. So maybe don't follow our guide...
