Did they keep them in the fridge? How do they reheat them? I thinned T's carrots out with breastmilk and I want the milk to stay good, hence, no microwaving. I don't know what to tell his babysitter.

I sent them in frozen cubes and they kept them in the freezer at school. Then they took one cube out at a time and microwaved it. And they mixed it with cereal. I didn't thin them out with breastmilk except at home sometimes when I was with him so I am not sure about that.

I didn't do homemade purees, but I've sent in food before and they keep them in the fridge.
Do you think your LO will be okay taking the food cold? Then you don't have to worry about them warming it. My other thought is maybe sending the carrots plain and the BM separate and ask them to warm up the milk and then mix it with the carrots before serving. That's what I used to do with the cereal for Xander.

Can you ask her to heat up the purees separately then thin with breast milk?
When we did purees and thinned with breast milk I wasn't concerned about nuking it.

They keep them in the little bowls in the fridge during the day. But why don't you want to microwave the breastmilk in it? That shouldn't hurt anything?

I'd just have her microwave it. I assume there is only a tiny amount of BM in it anyways? And he's getting BM in his bottles, so I wouldn't worry about it.
@T.H.O.U.: I assume she doesn't want to microwave it because microwaving BM can destroy the nutrients in it.
ETA: I don't make my own purees, but the daycare parents who do send them in frozen cubes.

I sent frozen cubes in a glass bowl w/ lid (diluted with water when the purees were thick), and she would warm them up by placing the bowl in a hot water bath. She kept them in the fridge until ready to eat, then it just took a couple minutes to finish defrosting.

Ours puts the container in a little tray of hot water to warm it up. There's no microwave in the infant room. I freeze the purees in those square silicone ice cube trays and transfer to freezer bags. When I prep her bottles the night before, I pull one out and stick it in a little container so it starts to thaw in the fridge overnight.

They had a crock pot on warm to heat up formula, bm, and food.

@Danizaur: I guess for the 30 seconds they have to put it in the microwave, I was never really that concerned about it. Yes, you loose some nutrients, but you can heat up WCM and its still milk.
I wouldn't make a big deal about it unless there is an easy solution.
