My answer didn't change from other post - DD was never a climber and there weren't any younger siblings - I just felt like age 3 was a good age to move her - we did it a few months early because we got a mattress and didn't want to store it

She was between 2.5 and 3. We did it because we wanted to.

@Mamaof2: Thanks for answering twice! It seemed like a lot of folks do it for LO #2 - I wanted to see how the ages line up when you take that out of the equation!

We will be between 2.5-3. We do have another one on the way but the reason is because she's climbing out (well, onto the railing) now, among other things. Having a daughter who is a climber, I'm shocked we've made it this far. But she actually likes her crib!

I'm not moving her until we absolutely have to! LO#2 is coming soon and it has zero bearing on us moving her. i want to keep her trapped LOL

@blackbird: Seriously! It's worth the $ of an extra crib or using the pnp for lo2 at least for awhile!!

At a little over 2 1/2-- we went on vacation in a condo and I wanted to try it out, so we put the twin mattress on the floor. She loved it, so when we got home, we converted her crib with the toddler rail. So far, she still stays in the bed until we get her.

She was 2.5 and we didn't have any reason for doing it, it just seemed like a good idea. Honestly I'm glad because it hasn't changed anything, she still treats it like a crib and doesn't get out unless we come to get her!

Just after 2, he crawled out of his crib. We were lucky that we made it that long! We took the front of his crib off and converted it into a toddler bed. We'll be moving him to a different room this summer to make way for LO #2. His new room will have a double bed with rails.

@2littlepumpkins: I will be so sad when the bed cage doesn't work anymore LOL

My DS is not a climber but right about the time he turned 3 he did climb out once and hit his head. We moved him to a mattress on the floor that day, and bought him an IKEA bunk bed by the following week. That was 4 mos ago and he still doesn't get out of his bed himself usually, he just waits till we come in. The crib is still in his room, unoccupied, with the hope we will eventually have our boys sharing a room, and he occasionally asks to sleep in it!

25 months for no particular reason. He did awesome and is sleeping better than ever.

Same as other post! 2 months before she turned 3.

Just after 2. He was a climber and it seemed like he just needed more room to sleep than the crib provided.

2 years old, no siblings on the way, and we're not moving her from the crib anytime soon. She sleeps well, doesn't climb, and we're content leaving her for the near future.

Slightly different, but we switched from a floor bed (crib mattress on the floor) to a twin Ed at 3. We did it as the incentive to finally break the nighttime pacifier habit and it worked! Plus her bed is so cute!

At 15 months we went to the crib mattress on the floor. At a little over 2 years, we got a twin mattress and bed frame (we cut the legs off so it sits very close to the floor). He never appreciated the crib and it made bedtime/wake-ups much easier on us (and my back!)
