This includes... ditching, cheating, stealing, drinking, smoking, drugs...
Hmmm I'm not sure what I'd do because I was a bad girl!
What about you?

I didn't do bad things. Never even had a puff of a cigarette. Praying my baby girl takes after me!

I think I'll be honest with my kids when it comes to the small stuff--stealing, ditching, etc., Not sure if I'll tell them EVERYTHING that I've done though.

I think I'll come clean about smaller stuff at first and see how that strategy pays off.

DH and I have talked about this a lot. During college, I was a "good girl" and I graduated in 3 years instead of 4. I didn't even taste alcohol for the first time until I was 20! DH on the other hand, definitely had a more stereotypical college experience. Still not sure what we'll tell our kids though.

Ack... I've done everything on your list!.... Anyhoo... Don't know how much I'd share with them, but I do want some sort of open, honest communication with them.

Maybe, if they are the type that learn from my past mistakes, it might be a good idea. If they are the type that would go out and try to repeat whatever I did, then maybe not.

DH & I have BOTH used our experiences in our childhood "happenings" when DS gets into things or STARTS heading in the direction of getting into something.
It's been REALLY effective and helps him see that we relate to the difficult decisions that have to be made when it comes to friends/"fun" vs. the "right" thing to do.
I've never disclosed something "just because" those.. I only bring it up when it's been relevant to something we've observed in DS's behavior or friends.
Also, I always knew the things that my mom had done has a child/teen & even though it wasn't conveyed in the right way (more like "oh the fun I used to have") It DID help me know that regardless of the trouble I got into I could ALWAYS go to her about it & for help OUT of it once I realized I was in over my head. lol

My mom told me whenever she had done something similar, or had a story that I would be able to relate to. It turns out she was a much mroe wild child than I ever was. Now I joke that because she was such a bad kid, I didn't have to be!
