Our 3.5 year old currently reaches for me when she gets hurt. She also calls for me when something is hurting, even if I am holding her, "Mommyyyyy. Mommmmyyyy it huuuuurts". It's heartbreaking.
Which parent does your child call for/need when they get hurt?

Me. Sometimes when DH isn't home he yells daddy!!! After getting hurt. That's rare though.

Always mommy here too.
@mediagirl: she also says "I want my mommy!!" While I'm holding her when she is upset.

Whichever parent is closest (including my sister, actually), assuming she doesn't perceive they somehow caused her to get hurt (she's 16 months). She often ultimately wants to go to Mommy though, and if she's crying out in her sleep it is "Mama"... which is pitiful

Whoever is closer. A lot of times, she goes straight to grandma though, if my MIL is around. It's pretty rare she cries when she hurts herself though. Usually she picks herself up and says "I'm OK!"

Mommy, always always. Though after the initial shock wears off, she has to get a kiss from daddy too

Always mama, he doesn't even let DH comfort him until I can get to him (just sits there screaming).

DS - me
DD - me and DH. It's usually just whoever is closest and willing to give her an ice pack haha. She wants an ice pack for every little thing. At night though, she calls for the last person that put her down to bed (90% DH), though she doesn't mind if I show up instead.

Me. All the time. If I'm gone, he is completely content with my husband but it makes me sad that, if we're together, LO will reach/call for me. I think it's starting to change a bit now which makes me feel better for my husband.

She fell down today and was completely fine but she wandered around crying, yelling Dada, and knocking on doors looking for DH. Every time I tried to hug her she pushed me away. But if DH is home, she will only come to me. Weird kid.

it used to automatically always be me, but lately he has odd preferences between me and DH, like it depends if he is waking up or going to sleep. the last time he was sick he wanted DH for the first time. Another time DH had him, he saw me and went for me, but then wanted to go back to DH.

Lo2: whom ever is closer. He sometimes calls me dada though so I can guess his preference

Me. (She's 12 months.) But oftentimes if we're both in the room, once she's calmed down she'll ready for daddy for a little snuggle before she resumes play time.
