LO is 2.5 and has never climbed out...we will switch this summer, sometime in July or August, to a toddler bed, because we have #2 coming in October.

We switched to a toddler bed two months before she turned 3. We are switching her to a twin this weekend. (3 and almost 4 months)

I was going to do it at age 3 with DD (she never climbed out) but did a few months early because my mom gave us a mattress and I didn't want to store it

My nephew was a tall 3 when they switched! He didn't even really want to then but he couldn't straighten his legs!
We haven't decided if we will move c this fall before baby comes or borrow my sisters crib for the new baby.

Around 22 months maybe? Shortly before 2, anyway. He never tried to climb out, but his nighttime sleep just got bad (screaming when we put him in the crib, taking forever to fall asleep, waking up constantly). I was ready to try just about anything, and converting his crib to a toddler bed worked like magic.

21 months. She did technically climb out, but it was one time around 18 months and she freaked herself out so bad we were never worried about it and it didn't lead to us making the decision to switch her. We transitioned her to a twin so that we could give the crib to LO2 coming in May.

We moved to a toddler bed at about 2.5, because we moved into our new house and it seemed like a good time to transition. she never climbed out of her crib and actually really loved her crib. now at 3 we will be getting her a twin bed. I wouldn't have done the toddler bed at all and would have just gone straight to the twin bed, but my mom found one for $15 and it gave us a few months before we had to buy a "real" bed.

My LO has never climbed out even though he is definitely capable of it. He likes his bed and I won't change it until around age 3 I think. (He's about 2.5.)

We kept her in a crib until 33 months when her brother needed it (only bc he outgrew the bassinet earlier than expected). We took out one side of the crib rail when she was around 2 because I couldn't lift her into the crib.

@Mrs. Chocolate: agreed! I never understood the whole "time to be in a big girl/boy bed" rationale!

27 months, in prep for baby dos is the only reason we did.
