Do they always participate in the recitals/big performances? My girls have been doing ballet for almost a year and we have not participated in the recitals yet. LO 1 wants to dance in the next one in April but LO 2 is not interested. There is a $150-$200 costume fee, $50 participation fee and 2 rehearsals a week...I am afraid of the time commitment!

Yes we do.. but my DD really enjoys participating in those types of things. Also, so far they have rehearsed those routines during class time, so if you don't participate in the recital, it's a little awkward.

It was just part of her class so no extra rehearsals. The costume was about $65-85 and a small recital fee $20 or so. For $100 it was fun to see her on stage.
