Found out today that baby #2 is another 
We plan to move J out of the nursery into a big girl room.
The nursery is painted a lilac/purple color - I'd kinda like to repaint it, but I'm sure my DH would think that's nuts!
If you had a second child the same gender as the first, did you make any changes to the nursery? New paint? New bedding? Or did you keep it all the same
Someday that room will be an office, so if I wanted to change it to a neutral office color now, DH might be ok with that.

I didn't really see the point in switching rooms. From what I've seen on HB apparently it's a common thing to do, but we just set up a new nursery for DS2, upgraded the crib in DS1's room to a big boy bed and moved the crib and baby stuff into the new nursery.

We moved house between #1 and #2. I never really thought of DD's room as a nursery but always as her room. She's in the same room with a big girl bed and DD2 will have DD1's crib in another room.

We were TG so our nursery is gender neutral. Dd will move into a "big girl room" and LO2 will go in the nursery since we will be team green again

LO is keeping her room & I hope to eventually have the girls share so we will be doing an entirely different color scheme. Unfortunately we won't be able to start until after she's here though so it may take a while.

we painted DD1 room with a farm theme, at first I was going to move my DD1 to a different room, but she was 2 1/2 by then, and thought she would just be easier to keep her in the same room. like wonderstruck we set up a new nursery for DD2, moved the crib and changing table out of DD1 room and into DD2. we painted DD2 room with an under the sea theme. DD2's room used to my husband's "gym" room that he was sad to give up but he never used it!!

Even if we have a girl next, we probably won't change the nursery. She better like zoo animals!

I had two boys and the nursery stayed the same except for two things that had big brothers name. I got a shelf and some blocks with little brothers name. The nursery is connected to the master bedroom through the master bath so if we have a 3rd it will stay the nursery. If it's another boy, no major changes again.

I wouldn't change it or reuse it. I would just upgrade it to a big boy room and make a new nursery. We made T's room especially for him. I hung and decorated with him in mind when I was pregnant. It wouldn't feel right to 1.) not have that special preparation for our next baby and 2.) give his room away.
ETA: Alrhough we will reuse the same furniture and get T big boy furniture.

We moved so yes :). But re used a lot of the same stuff (carpet, sheets, chair, changing pad, etc). It's a much bigger room so we needed new curtains and my son broke his mobile so got a new one of that....got some new prints.

We were team green with DD, so we kept everything the same when DS#1 came. Had to replace bedding for DS#2 though. We also only own one crib and my kiddos are 4, 2, and 11 months.

@Danizaur: I know what you mean about "giving [her] room away", it's just that the other two rooms are much bigger. It seems like J should have a bigger room since we want her to have at least a twin size bed, maybe a queen (so guests can use it). That way she could have a place for toys too. The other big room has an attached bathroom, so we want to keep that as a "guest suite" as long as possible, since his parents stay overnight 1-2 weekends per month. When the girls are older, we figure they'll each have a big room (that can serve as a guest room) and we'll turn the nursery into an office. Does that make sense?
I guess I am fine with keeping the purple, I just want to do something to make it feel like the new baby's room and not a hand-me-down. Even though I know I'm being silly!

Nope, not changing the nursery! Xander moved out and we painted his new room, but the baby is getting Xander's old room, the nursery, as is! We got new bedding for the crib, but that's because Xander's still using his crib and his bedding. I LOVED Xander's nursery and I actually painted it gender neutral so that I could reuse it regardless of the gender of baby #2.

@Adira: that makes sense! Fortunately it is a small room with white below the chair rail, so it wouldn't be a terrible amount of work to repaint (except for the taping, which is super annoying). My dad painted the purple for me while I was a work, and it was a little more purple than I'd intended (was going for a lavender/grey), so that's partly why I'm considering changing it.

We will be moving soon so my son will get a new room and we'll most likely keep him there and choose another room for a nursery someday. I'll use the same crib and some of the decor.

@78h2o: Yeah, the bedrooms in our house (other than the master) are all the exact same size, so in my case there was no point.

We're keeping ds1 in his current room and putting the twins in a new room. I wanted to do something unique for them, plus J really likes his room and I don't want to do too much transitioning all at once - getting twin brothers is enough for a 14 month old, lol.

@marionberry: that totally makes sense! I am thinking we will try to move her sooner rather than later, so that she doesn't feel like the baby is kicking her out of her room!

Not pregnant yet but I have a gender neutral theme for LO1 that i love so I am 100% using the same theme/bedding/etc for whenever I have LO2. If we happen to move (which we plan to), I will do a different colour for the walls, but only because the current colour was for a theme I never ended up using and not what I would have chosen (and DH said no way to painting over once I changed my mind!)
Eta. I also want to get max usage out of the stuff I bought for LO1, so it justifies the cost a little more.

We intended for LO1's room to be her room, so we just painted another bedroom for LO2, gave LO1 a big girl bed, and moved the crib and changing table into LO2's room.

Our nursery is the smallest room in the house, perfect for a nursery but no good as an older child's bedroom. We have purposefully decorated in a gender neutral style so that we can move subsequent children in without re decorating.

I'm not sure what we will do. I think we would keep the room as it is - but I would like to give it a fresh coat of paint in the same colour.

We have 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 down. Right now LO and us are down. When baby 2 comes one day we will move up, move DS to our room and keep the smaller room a nursery. If baby 2 is a boy I won't change the nursery much, especially since we will be doing a big boy room.

Our second is the opposite sex but we are still keeping the nursery almost the same. We originally designed lo's nursery anticipating that if we had a girl they would share a room anyway (though we added on to the house so lo could have his own room and he has moved out), so it is fairly gender neutral. I am adding a few coral accents to make it a bit more girly for her, but all the big stuff is staying the same.

We will just give the new baby their own room. I don't see the point in switching rooms. We have already discussed what a new theme might be when we have another, and it isn't the same.

I get what other people are saying about not changing the nursery because they made that room for their LO - I specifically made a nursery, not for any specific kid, but for me

We are getting LO1 big girl furniture, and using the same nursery furniture for LO2, but I'm doing the nursery in different colors/theme. And we're having the crib and furniture (which is mahogany) painted in Annie sloane pure white. I just want to change it up for the next 2.5 years, I'd be so tired of it for a span of 5 or so years:)

We left LO1 in her room so baby wasn't "stealing it" and we created a new nursery for baby girl #2. We are using the same furniture and bed skirt, but am doing a different "theme." Colors are similar but that's it.

Our nursery right now is super neutral for a girl so I don't think I'd be changing it at all for #2!

I would just leave DD1 in her current room and put DD2 in the room you were going to put DD1 in. Then one day when you're ready to give up the guest room, move DD1 and redecorate. Otherwise you're moving and redecorating 3 or 4 times.

Congrats on your second daughter! We recently moved, so I didn't have this exact predicament. We split a lot of DD1s stuff between the two rooms, so the artwork went into her big girl room (with floor bed), but the crib, sheets, any gear went into the nursery. All we purchased new for the nursery was artwork, a new small dresser and bedding for the twin bed we have in there.

@78h2o: Eeeeeeek, I am SO excited for you!!! Sisters are just so special! I would keep it all the Same, honestly. We have no plans to change the decorations etc for Baby #2 (gender neutral).

We changed the nursery but nothing drastic. The walls are the same color (yellow) but the theme for the new baby is different (DD1 was owls and now DD2 is little surfer girl). So I just got new curtains, pictures, decal and made a new mobile. I wanted it to be different enough so DD1 would associate the room as DD2s room, not her room anymore.
