My 11 month old was on the 2-3-4 schedule and seemed to do well with it. He definitely seemed tired 2 hrs after waking. I had to do something's with my stepdaughter over the past few days and was not able to be at home with him at naptime (he never sleeps while on the go). For those days, I put him to nap as soon as we got home, usually either 3 or 4 hrs after waking, and wonder of wonders, he went to sleep quickly and stated asleep long!!! He usually naps for 1 hr or less but those days he slept for 2 or 2.5 hrs or even a bit longer than that (which is more sleep than he got for a whole day in the past). On a couple of those days he took a cat nap (30 mins) in the afternoon, but on others he didn't sleep again.

Do I keep this up? Or go back to 2-3-4? Do I try to transition to 1 midday nap? He stills shows tired signs after two hrs if he's not really engaged with something or with an activity. Is he better off with 2 short naps or 1 long one? What do you suggest?
