Lo is almost 6 months and shes had the same toys since she was born..small infant toys. I think shes getting bored with them, is that possible? Right now we have a little basket full of soft books and small toys, is it time to get more?

My LO tends to get bored with her toys too. I usually just keep them in a basket that she can't get to, and then I'll switch them out every once in a while. That way she forgets about the ones in the basket and when I give them back to her they're new to her again.

@artbee: have you moved away from the small infant toys? like the oval links, chew rings? (I hope you know which ones I'm talking about, I'm not sure how to describe them) We don't have many toys that move/make noise/light up etc. and I'm wondering if we should start getting some.

@lovelife: We still have the toys you're talking about. She loves to stick anything and everything in her mouth, so as long as she can do that she's happy. She really loves toys that make that crinkle sound. We have some that make noise, and she likes those too. Especially the glow worm.

We only bought our LO a handful of toys--Sophie, a plush Labbit, an oversized cloth book.. and I forget what else. Everything else she has were gifts. She didn't need too many toys when she was younger. Even now, (almost 1) she doesn't play with half of the toys she has. I've packed a ton of stuff away already. Will probably rotate toys every couple of months.

I love the idea of putting them away in a basket that the baby can't get to and rotating them because I am going to have such a small space to work with that I can't let my future LO have a lot of toys.

Do you have something like a jumperoo or exersaucer? My LO started cruising at 6 months so I would set things up so she could cruise all around the playroom. She's never been that interested in toys....

@Andrea: we do have a jumperoo, she does ok in that for a while. as of right now Lo is just rolling all over the place. I ended up just getting a little toy that sings and makes noise.. something a little more stimulating.
@chopsuey119: we plan to rotate toys as well .. as soon as we have enough to rotate. We really haven't gotten toys as gifts, I wish we would have. Most of the gifts we got were clothes or stuffed animals (which aren't to useful right now)

@lovelife: Yeah. My LO started giving her stuffed animals attention just recently at 11 months. It's super cute seeing her hug and pat her stuffed toys

@lovelife: I would probably be introducing new, more challenging toys at about 6 months. I know that at that stage my LO changed in play.
